Paid and never received
Not only did our delivery date get moved further back after we paid in full but their delivery guys make a whole in my wall with out me knowing ..but then had the nerve to tell me they couldntr fit it in the door way with out doing damage which they did do damage to begin with...so they took it back and instead they brought up the tables and lamps i ordered which were damaged horendously and we were mising a lamp then they gave a hard time about getting our money back because their delivery guys wouldnt take back the damaged tables and lamp with them and we had it in the house for about a week...so we reordered ...had to pick out a whole other set and everything...waited another week and again...it happened again..except this time the couch was damaged and they sent the tables without the screws to put together, , , in all, , , i lost about 500 of 1500 dollars because they wont give back the total in full.

Very Unprofessional staff
What I thought would be a simple rug purchase turned of to be an experience that left me so upset that I will NEVER purchase from them again.

We went to their Westchester location. The furniture looked cheaply made. I told my wife lets get out of here. But she noticed a rug that she really liked. So we purchased it. The salesman said I would have it in three days. After three weeks of the run around by their staff. We canceled. Everytime I called I was given such a run around not to mention being on hold for ten minutes at a time. Stay Away. Very Unprofessional staff.

Faulty merchandise
My first experience with Bob's was about 12 years ago. We purchased a set of couches. Two years later, they looked as if we'd had them for 15 years.

We were looking for bunkbeds and Bob's had what we were looking for (the kind with stairs instead of a ladder) We were previously told by a sales person at Bob's that the quality of their merchandise had improved since them. We ordered the bunkbeds from them and it has been nothing but a headache.

On the first delivery, multiple pieces were damaged. It was suggested that we request to have all pieces inspected before the next redelivery. When delivery #2 arrived, not only was there damage to a piece that had been inspected but holes for the bolts were not drilled all the way through. Currently, I have one top bunk set up for one of my kids to sleep in, the second mattess is in my kitchen, and we are awaiting the 3rd attempt by Bob's to get it right.

I will never make another purchase from them again. I am trying to locate their corporate office to send a letter regarding my bad experience but it has not been easy to find. Wonder why! I highly advise against purchasing anything from Bobs. Personally, I know 4 other people who have had experiences similar to mine.

If you're considering buying from Bob's, I have some advice for you - don't. Spend a little extra money and go someplace like Basset or similar. We have couches we had purchased from them 6 years ago that still look great. Bob's = crap.

Innappropriate sales people
When I asked the sales people at our local Bob's store about complaints I've read here and heard from others locally, they asked me to leave the store, that they weren't going to get involved in a debate about the quality of their products. Here's a potential customer asking an honest question prior to spending a fair amount on furniture for a new home, and they ask me to leave. Why? Because they know everything here is true and I was jeopardizing the scams they were running on unsuspecting customers by daring to ask such questions in a voice that someone might overhear. Proof's in the puddin', nothing but junk. It was particularly funny because I sat on a reclining loveseat model that my wife was interested in about 10 minutes prior to this encounter and there was a loud pop from the metal frame underneath; I'm very much an average weight.

Terrible company
I purchased new furniture from bobs and I understand things get damaged but good old bob tried to get one by me.First my buffet had a huge piece of wood missing that I noticed and it was dummied up with a brown marker, then one of my wood chairs was discolored so I took a closer look another big piece of wood missing but this time good old bob filled it in with wood putty(not even the same color of the wood) if I haven't worked for a moving company years ago I wood have screwed.Again I realize things get damaged but this is just plain dishonest.

Their were other things wrong like my coffee table came with only two legs 4 to 6 week wait for the two my dining room table was cracked four of my other chars wobbled and the top of my hutch was not even on the truck.

Terrible experience
I am still in utter disbelief as to the absolute nightmare I went through last night to pick up furniture
from Bob’s store in Worcester Friday 8/14/09. Being well aware that pick from their warehouse is up to 8:00pm, I was running tight on time to get there and I made what turns out to be a mistake by calling the Worcester store at 7:20 to ask that if I arrived there before 8:00pm would I still be able to pick up my $1400 order.

I was transferred to the warehouse and spoke with the warehouse captain and explained that I was on my way in a rental truck and wanted to make sure that if I got there before 8:00 pm I could collect my order. I was told by the captain that at 8:00 on the “DOT” his Temporary workers punch out as they have buses to catch. My question to the captain was very simple, if I get there at 7:55 will I get my furniture loaded. It all went downhill from that point on. The Captain was not only rude and belligerent, but proceeded to tell me that I was threatening him because I stated that I would call the local store manager if the Captain could not answer my simple question rather than argue with me. After telling me I was on speaker phone and the manager was standing right there, he promptly hung up on me.

After being hung up on I called back to the store and spoke with the manager on duty Angelo who answered my question that yes if I was there before 8:00pm I would get my order.

I arrive at the warehouse at 7:55 and proceeded inside to the pickup area and rang the buzzer to alert the warehouse I was there. Through the glass window a worker stuck up the 1 minute finger indicating hold on. After a minute I again rang the buzzer and the worker came to the door and immediately got into my face on “why you have to ring the buzzer again”. I asked if he was the warehouse captain ( which he was not ) and explained that I called ahead and wanted to make sure I was acknowledged as being there before 8:00 to pick up my order. The worker then stated and I quote “What’s your problem man coming in here smelling like booze and getting in my face “

Now the warehouse captain comes up to the door and immediately starts accusing me of being disrespectful to him and his co-worker and he did not have to take it. I said I can’t believe this and as a small business owner myself, I was appalled at his attitude towards customer service and I wanted to speak with the manager and I had no desire to talk with the captain any further. What I received was my paperwork literally thrown at me and the door slammed in my face.

I went back to my truck and called the store manager who said he would meet me at the loading area. While waiting for the manager the captain was having a cigarette at the loading area and proceeded to fire off a round of verbal insults. “You people with money are all alike” “You think you’re better than us because you own your own business” “Look at you in your nice Polo shirt “…. The manager arrived and had to literally put his arm around the captain and take him into the building. As the manager was taking the captain into the building the captain turned to me and stated that “The only reason you are alive now is because the manager showed up “– I was shocked to say the least and in fact so upset by the threat that I pretented to make a call to the local police department asking for a escort out of the local area as I feared the warehouse staff would follow me when I left.

The manager got my furniture for me and it was loaded in my truck. As I was getting my papers for the pickup I asked the manager to confirm that in fact he heard the captain threaten my life. He said he did and then he started on the whole “you have to treat people with respect and you can’t make demands….. I just walked away, got into my truck and thought to myself how can anyone stay in business (or earn customers) with this kind of treatment to people paying hard earned cash for merchandise.

And no I was not drunk or otherwise. In fact I had the rental truck because I had made a 48 hr ( little sleep ) road trip from NC to pick up my own customers order to make sure I had it to deliver to my customer in time Friday afternoon. What scares the living crap out of me is the fact that this “Captain” has my home address. Saving a few $$ on what now looks like Cheap ( and I mean cheap ) furniture was not worth it. Avoid Bob’s at all cost.

defective loveseat
I purchased a new leather couch and loveseat tables and lamps for my living room that we don't use.

The set has maybe been sat on 10 times since I bought it but when I came home from vacation in July I was cleaning the room and noticed that the loveseat was wearing and cracking.

I called the store and they sent a very nice man out who indeed said that is was defective and he could not fix it so he called the store. A very not nice woman got on and said that there was nothing they would do.

I told her that I am single with no children or pets and I do not use the room. So how could that happen and she said they were not responsible and she hung up on me.

I thought the store would do something but they did not.

I had problems when they delivered the furniture and had to wait five months for my lamp brakcets to come. It ended up that I had to go out and purchase some because I was having a family reunion and everytime I called about them customer service was very very rude.

I would never never but anything from Bob's again and I would not recommend them to anyone!

mattress
In 2002 I purchased a mattress set from Bob’s Discount Furniture. In 2004 that same mattress set was deemed defective and Bob’s came to my home and replaced the mattress. Five years later in January of 2009 the second mattress was deemed defective by a technician and once again Bob’s issued a store credit and allowed me to pick out a new mattress. I visited the store and picked out what I was told was a quality mattress. This past weekend a technician was again dispatched to my home and Wade determined that the mattress placed in my home 6 months ago was also defective with a 2” depression.

In speaking to Bob’s customer service department on Saturday July 18th I was told the options available to me. They included issuing a store credit which would enable me to visit the store to pick out a new mattress set and coordinate a delivery time. I asked for Bob’s to come to my home to remove the mattress set and issue me a full refund; I was denied. The CSR, Marlene indicated that she was authorized to issue refunds only. When asked to speak to her manager, Candice, I was told the same. Marlene indicated that Candice was the top manager of the department and would not authorize a store refund.

Marlene went on further to say that the first mattress replaced in 2004 was not even inspected by technician. I rebutted with the directions I was given in 2004, to take a broom handle, lay across the bed so the depression was in the center of the handle, measure the depth of the depression and send in the results. This was done and the mattress was replaced. Marlene further detailed to me that the warrantee from the first mattress set was carried over the course of the past 7 years and applied to each subsequent replacement.

I did not speak to Candice directly as I was told by Marlene that Candice would not offer anything more nor a refund. Marlene did in act say she felt my frustration and request for a full refund. I simply do not want another Bob’s Discount Furniture mattress set delivered to this house. Within 7 years 3 mattress sets have been deemed defective. At some point, the time being now, this must end. It is now my understanding that I have 2 weeks to take advantage of the store credit offer. Two weeks and counting to resolve this matter with Bob’s.

I am frustrated beyond believe and facing the fact that I will be out of $699 for the mattress and $280 for the box spring. Given the set of circumstances, I feel Bob’s should do the right thing and refund the amount spent on the mattress and box spring. They have not achieved a level of respect as a retailer which provides superior or even great products. The third time was not the charm. Over the past 7 years too much of my time, personal and professional, has been given to Bob’s in trying to reach a mutual satisfactory resolution.

Poor Customer Service
I just recently graduated college and secured a job in the Yonkers area. Instead of moving all of my furniture from Michigan, I figured it'd be easier to buy new when I moved in. Almost two weeks prior to my move-in day, I had checked out a few different places around Yonkers and Bob's seemed to have the best price on their products and delivery. I called into the store to confirm they had the furniture I wanted in stock and that they could deliver it on my move in day. The associate I talked with told me that they actually recommended ordering online because I could get a break on delivery and because I was ordering so far in advance, they could guarantee delivery. I submitted my order of over $2, 000. The next day, I received a call from Bob's to see if I wanted to upgrade to their "goof proof" insurance. I thought it was a good deal, but felt uncomfortable giving my credit card information over the phone, especially since I didn't initiate the call. The employee said she understood and said I could add it when I got into town. Well, on my move in day, it was getting close to the end of my time frame for using the moving elevator and I called to see what the status was of my order. I was told that I still owed $40 on my order and they wouldn't deliver until it was paid! After talking to a manager, she said they had made a mistake and would deliver it 3 days later. I told her this was totally unacceptable. They promised me they could deliver it on my move in day. She said she understood, but couldn't do anything about it besides give me a $50 credit untill the store manager came back into work, 3 days later. This still won't make it right for having to sleep on the floor and not have anything to sit on for 3 days while I try to get ready to start a new job. I DO NOT recommend that you shop here. They made sure to call me less than 24 hours later to try to upsell their insurance to me but, couldn't call to say I owed $40?!?!?!? I'm especially nervous, after reading more reviews, about what kind of condition my stuff is going to be in when I get it!! Like they always say...you get what you pay for!
