Unreliable or substitute wine
I was visiting Suzhou recently and went to Carrefour to buy a bottle of wine. I selected a Bin 18 Shiraz 2009 from James winery South Australia. The price was about just 70 rmb but I expected it to have some taste. Upon opening it, I detected no whiff of anything resembling Shiraz. Upon tasting it, I found no taste of Shiraz. It tasted flat and unpleasant. The wine was either very well past its best, or not what it said on the bottle. As I was staying close by, I returned to the store to declare it spoilt and undrinkable. To their credit, they allowed me to select a replacement.. I selected a Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 from James Romaunt, Also Australian. when I brought it home and opened it, I had the same experience as the previous wine. No taste of Cabernet Sauvignon at all. Very little bouquet. Unbelievable. In fact, it tasted very similar to the first one. The taste was like a very bad cheap Chinese wine. Flat and unpleasant. I have never met a situation where a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Shiraz could taste the same, nor where they would taste like a very cheap, no grape specified, Chinese red. It could be that they were both well past their drink-by date, in which case, why is Carrefour stocking them. the other possbility, based on taste, is that they are not what they say on the label. I have been in China long enough to suspect the latter. Either way, I wont be buying any wine ever again in Suzhou Carrefour. Let the buyer beware.

Dear Sir/Madam

Today being the 28th October 2010, I am absolutely distraught and angry. I have been living in Suzhou China for just over 6 years and shopping at your store quite regularly. I usually spend between 4, 000 and 6, 000 yuan a month.
Today was the last straw;
Firstly, I was told that you don't have mayonnaise, salad dressing or cereal. After walking around for half an hour I found them.
Secondly, some of your milk, orange juice, and yogurt were out of date. When I told the attendants, they left it there and let other customers buy it. (because they don't check the date)
Thirdly, when I got to the checkout counter, I was told that I could not buy any of the plastic bags, because they didn't have any and that I had to spend 4.5 yuan instead of just .5 yuan. Now I had a lot of shopping, and to spend 9 yuan instead of 1 yuan, is just not cool. This is not about the money; it’s about the principal and being told what I had to do.
Lastly, I then went to the information counter to make a complaint, where the girl then told me that she could not do anything about it. I then asked for the manager. She called him and I think he got scared, because he did not want to come and talk to me.
I am a customer and expect to be treated with respect. To be treated in such a manner is unforgiveable.
I am expecting a quick response or I will be forced to take this matter further.
