water line breakage
our main water line is broken and are currently without running water, having trouble getting repairs... where is pulte cannot get in contact with.
main water line break. why is the water line, not in line with the meter.
water line makes 2, 90deg turns from the house, then a 45deg and approx 60' to the meter box across the property...opposite main shutoff.
standard design proceedure; from home to street in a direct line with no bends. (design 101)
water and gas lines should run in a straight direct line from street to home and should not break. unless, tampered with or a disaster.
(have the slightest idea to where the gasline runs.)
cannot get in contact with pulte...

>>>some of the past history with this pulte home, we are the original and current owners;
>pulte also did not connect the master bed tub and shower drains to the main...water ran thru the walls and floor causing mold.
>pulte allowed rebar to protrude thru the garage floor. nails embedded in concrete driveway
>pulte had also put broken tiles on roof and caulked them.
>pulte allowed poor shower construction.
> pulte allowed poor wood moulding and shelving construction.

Plumbing
Our home was built in 2003 and have had next to no problems. Recently the sewage line backed up into the unfinished basement. $609.00 later the plumber finds that the basement roughin was not installed properly. The water flows away from the sewer line. This has existed from the time it was built and the concrete poured. Additionally the water flowed away from the sump pump. Pulte refusese to repair it stating the warranty has expired. It makes no difference it took nearly 8 years to find the problem because it took that long for the sewage to back up and plug the line. The estimated cost of repairs is $11, 000.00. I used to be a big Pulte fan but now I will tell everyone do not buy Pulte. They do not stand by their work.

Hands down the worst drywall finish, door frame finish I have ever experienced in my life
Hands down the worst drywall finish, door frame finish I have ever experienced in my life. We were rushed through our closing and with a bit of slight of hand weren’t able to really take the time to fully examine all of the walls, doors, etc.

When you have your final walk through take at least half a day and examine all joints and door frames/trim. I’ve seen better dry walling done by weekenders with little or no experience.

Pulte will lie to you, will try to get you to settle for less than you deserve, and will stall, stall, stall in an attempt to run out your warranty. They do not build quality homes and their sales staff are little more than used cars sales people.

Stay away from Pulte Homes. We’ve fought them for two years and have gotten a number of things corrected, but the quality of materials used and fit and finish does not warrant what they charge for their townhomes.

I read recently where Centex merged with them; hopefully they’ll learn a thing or two because the quality is non-existent and they don’t care. Their response to most things, without saying it, is essentially “tough luck buddy, you were stupid enough to buy from us”.

Whatever you do, Don’t buy a Pulte home.

QUALITY
We bought a new Pulte Home thirteen years ago and this house is falling down around us! We have a two story home and every floor upstairs is creaking when you walk on them. The staircase baseboard and moulding is pulling away from the walls, the banister is lose and leaning, the foundation of the kitchen floor cracked and ruined the twenty five hundred dollar tiled floor we had installed. There are nail heads popping through the walls and the sheet wall is a mess.
We had to have all the wood on our front porch replaced six years ago, due to rot.
WE ARE ANGRY! SHAME ON YOU!
Do we not have any recourse here? Houses are suppose to last longer than thirteen years!

Poorly built home
BRAND NEW HOME, LOOKS LIKE A HOME FROM OTHER BUILDERS AT ONE-THIRD THE PRICE, WILL SELL AND TAKE THE HIT. This house, expensive, should be built to be proud of but I won't stay there or allow my family for safety reasons.in my opinion, this house was built to make the company money and couldn't care about the consumer or the quality of the product.

Over the weekend I WILL PUT A FOR SALE SIGN up, will inform anyone interested in the house concerning my issues with the house, and offer them the home for$200, 000 which I PAID #300, 000 in November of 2010.

House
There have been various issues with my Pulte money-pit. When I first bought my house 5 years ago, during the walk through I had to fight for them to fix siding which was cracked and warped. As other people have stated, my windows have condensation buildup, especially in the bathroom. As others again, the whole house is drafty where we require blankets to just to sit around. Even with additional caulking and weatherstripping the heat just goes from my house. Then when the window breaks there is no one to fix the problem, no number to call, no one calls back from the construction number they provided. I have a bad garage door where water settles in my garage if it rains or I turn my sprinklers on, again they could not fix the garage door thought it was a problem I stated on the walk through. Last winter, I had SNOW in my attic. A section of outside wall had a huge hole and icing formed leaving water spots throughout my ceiling.
As stated by others, I will NEVER buy another Pulte home and will tell others NEVER to buy Pulte since the quality is not up to standard. If I knew about all of the problems Pulte had before I bought this house, I would have definitely ran away. This is a poor company no matter what anyone says, I am ashamed to live here and even more ashamed I have to raise a child in this house.

Quality
My wife and I bought a new home in the Buffalo Ridge addition. At first glance you think it is well built. The front room is facing west. It was very hot in there during the summer time. We found that there was no insulation above the room.
The windows were not sealed where they meet. Had to silicone them. All of our windows were like that. We also tinted the windows and installed solar screens. Helped a lot. There is no fiberglass insulation in the walls. We were running a new coax and when I punched a hole in the sheet rock, there was a lot of air blowing through the hole. I opened up under the hot water heater and nothing but an open space going right into the walls. The only insulation is the 1/2" styrofoam sheet. My next project is to spray foam around all of the exterior walls to prevent wind from coming through. Very poor painting. You can see though it after a couple of years. The tape and bedding is very poor. It just takes a couple of years to show up. The wood fence is a joke. Very uneven. Bought a new home so we didn't have to do much to it. What a joke. Stay away from Pulte Homes.

Warranty Maintenance
The warranty Department is a joke. They are rude and depending on who you talk to have no idea what constitutes and emergency and what does not!! This morning I called them to have our A/C in repaired because it is not working -- we have only been in our home since Jan/Feb 2010.
On another note, the HOA fees that we pay ($249) are worthless. We have dead grass, gates that are constantly open or broke, a gym that is not conducive to people who work late hours (the place closes at 9 p.m.), I could go on.

So many of our neighbors would sell immediately if they could including us. Don't move/buy in a Pulte community!!! They are terrible.

The worst plumbing
If we had the opportunity to buy another Pulte home, we would pass. Our house is only 12 years old and we saw that some ceilings had been redone obviously to fix water leaks. We made the mistaken assumption that the leaks were all fixed by the previous owner. After living here only three years, we've had open three walls and ceilings to fix leaking plumbing. That does not count the leaky house-bibs we had to replace outside.

The worst part is the noise the water makes. The study on the main floor is located directly below the master bath. When anyone runs water or flushes the toilet upstairs, we can't hold a normal conversation on the phone because the water noise in the pipses is so loud.

House is Falling Apart
Do not buy a Pulte Home!
My new wife and I bought a new Pulte home before it was completely built in December of 2008. They did not build the house right. I don't know much about building homes that is why I paid hard earned money to purchase this house and now we have the following problems: The attached the truss to the frame of the building which caused plenty of problems. As the truss lifted and moved (as it should) it brought the rest of the house up and down which lifted the sheet rock walls off the ground and cause "nail pops" which is when the nails poke through your sheet rock ceiling. Also, as the truss lifted the columns in our kitchen broke free from the ceiling leaving gaps between the tops of the columns and the sheet rock ceiling. So the house is pretty much coming apart at the seams.

Here is the kicker. There are about a dozen homes on my block that I know of that have the exact same problems and worse. We would like to put a class action suit on them or take them to court individually. These are all things you do not want to think about or deal with when you pay a huge down payment on a house like this and have a mortgage to work for and pay for each month. Not to mention if the house is going to fall on top of us as we sleep.

Yes, Pulte came in and "fixed" the issues, but two months later the same problems are occurring. Not to mention, none of their contractors speak English and I am afraid to ask for their green cards. Now I get referred to the Pulte website to request service issues, don’t speak to a person and I can't get my representative to call me back.

Long story short: Do not buy a Pulte home. They will suck you in with financing and smiles on the upfront. But on the back side of the experience, no smiles, no phone calls and a home that is shaky at best - Brand New!
