At St. Andrew's Dental Care, our aurora ON dentist use braces to align the teeth, so they are in a better position for chewing and speaking. The braces put pressure on the teeth, slowly moving them into the right place. The process of straightening teeth with braces takes a long time, usually around 18 months.
Braces are a common way to straighten out teeth. Braces can be metal or plastic, and they go around the tooth in a slight curve, pushing the tooth in the direction it is supposed to go. As well as cosmetic reasons, braces also help with speaking and chewing problems.
Braces are shaped so that the tooth is pushed in the correct direction. A wire is then threaded through the braces to ensure that they stay in their new position. Sometimes rubber bands are used to adjust the braces. Many people have had success with this method of dentistry.
