never had a problem
I must say that all the negatives I hear, happens with all banks when you fall behind. I financed my car with wfds 14 months ago, never had a late payment, Christmas came along and I called wfds 2 days before my payment was due, and asked if i could extend the payment to the back of the loan, so I could get a special xmas present, no problem, I paid the $25 charge. I have had great progress with wfds, and plan to finance another vehicle with them soon. If wfds let everyone who falls behind slide, that would be a very large number, and they would not be making money, they are a bank, a bank is there to lend to make money. I do believe people would run into the same problem anywhere els. However, stay away from Oregon Finance, in my opinion they are crooked. Good Luck!

Customer Service and Loan Problems
My sister and her husband just financed their first vehicle through Wells Fargo Dealer Services (WFDS) at the beginning of this year. They are fairly new to the whole making loan payments, and don't know how everything works that is why I am writing this, this is their story.
WFDS is stating that they are behind payments on their car, even though they have the payments directly taken out of their bank account each month. The first payment that they made on the car in Feb. was paid with a money order but they forgot to take the receipt stub off the end, and WFDS claims they never received payment even though my sister received a confirmation letter in the mail stating that the payment was received. After that, they set it up to have the payments taken directly out of the account so they didn't have to deal with money orders, and still WFDS is claiming that they are behind 3 payments and that the car is on the repo list. My mother and I talked to my sister and her husband telling them that they need to contact the bank to find out what is going on with their loan. So he called WFDS about the loan just to have the lady scream at him! He then became discouraged about the whole situation and was going to give up. We proceeded to tell them that you can't give up on this because you have done nothing wrong. He then decided to call back later that same day to talk with them again just to get an equally rude lady telling him that there is nothing that he can do, the car is going to be repossessed, and that if he didn't make a $698 payment that day and then another $700 in 2 weeks he will no longer have the car. He tried to explain to them that he doesn't owe all of that money, and has proof from his bank statement that payments to WFDS were being electronically taken out of his account each month. She proceeded to tell him, "Well that is not what we are showing on our books!"
I think that something is seriously going on in this company that needs to be investigated by higher management staff. Either someone is stealing money in this company or the staff isn't doing their job correctly. I have seen multiple complaints about this company on this website, and something needs to be done about it. People are losing their vehicles illegally and nothing is being done about it. Nobody at WFDS wants to deal with their customers! They have horrible customer service and should not have it advertised on their website that they are committed to personal service.

Auto Loan
I financed my first auto loan through Wachovia Dealer Services in August of 2009. Much to my dismay, they were bought out by Wells Fargo sometime shortly after that. My cosigner had to go through a bankruptcy in October of 2010. My car loan was incorrectly added to this bankruptcy, and according to Wells Fargo, the attorney had not filled out the affirmation correctly or timely enough to remove my vehicle loan from the bankruptcy department. They informed me that as long as I kept making payments, everything should be fine.
In the meantime, my financial aid was cancelled. I called and talked to Wells Fargo and made arrangements with my payments - I told them times were hard, I'd pay them when I could - and in the meantime, please accept partial payments on my loan. I thought everything was fine with them. Well, on June 13th 2011 - I come out to my car (actually, I was getting in my car to go put money in the bank in order to make a payment to Wells Fargo), and my car is not there. I start freaking out, thinking my car has been stolen. No, it was just Wells Fargo - repossessing my car without any notice. No phone call beforehand to let me know their intentions, no notice on the door to tell me what had happened.
So I call them and they inform me that in the state of Nevada, not only do they not have to give me any warning, they also expect me to pay off the full amount of the loan ($4, 800 - but $5, 167 with all of their BS charges) before I even talk to them about getting my car back. Awesome. Because, as a 20 year old college student with two jobs and cancelled financial aid due to budget cuts in my state, I can totally afford to do that.
I end up borrowing $5, 000 from assorted family members and friends - on the final day, I wire them the amount (which cost me $26.00 at $12.99 for each transaction - the sum was too high to send via one wire). In the meantime, I call the local repo place - which is the last place I knew of that they took my car. They tell me "Oh. Actually, Wells Fargo picked your car up and ordered it to Sacramento on Monday". Really lovely of them to let me know - it's not like I had been talking to them every day since the 13th. I call Wells Fargo, they tell me that they can't tell me where my car is until the payment has processed; but they will bring the car to "a closer location" - call them on Monday to find out where my car is.
I call on Monday (today, actually), and they tell me that now that the car is officially mine, they will have nothing to do with it anymore. Never mind that they transported my car across state lines, 150 miles away. Additionally, to pick up my car - it will be $600, plus the $75 to pick up my belongings from the first place they deposited my car at.

I will never bank with these moronic assholes again. Not only was what they did completely wrong, I believe it's borderline illegal. If anyone has any legal advice to give - I would definitely appreciate it. Thanks for listening.

Won't refund the money from an automatic payment, after I paid in advance 5 months
I have a car loan with Wells FArgo Dealer Services and I have been paying extra for my down payment and in advance up to 5 months. This month I decided to cancel the automatic payment which was normally registered on the 17th of each month, and that's because we're taking a month long vacation and we need the cash to pay the bills that are coming up while we're gone (I don't get paid while gone). So I called WFDS on the 15th after I sent the request in via faxed and I talked with one of their representatives (I don't remember their name). He told me they will make sure the payment is going to be stopped in time before the 17th, made sure he put a urgency note on that but also said that he can not gurantee that it will nto go through as they need up to 72 hours heads up. Sure enough, not on the 17th, but on the 20th the payment is taken out of my bank account(which in my calculation is definitely over the 72 hours mark). So I call them on the 20th and I asked them why wasn't the automatic payment cancelled and why are the money take out of my account, after I have sent the faxed in (the confirmed they received that very day on the 15th) and I also talked with that representative to make sure the payment won't go thorough. This other guy I was talking with, Eric, apologized and made me write another letter and fax it to them requesting the funds to be transferred back to my bank account the same way they were withdrew and promised me that it wont take more than 24-48 hours for the procedure to take place. Here I am on the 22nd wondering how come the money haven't entered my account so I called them again. This time I spoke with Juliana which is giving me completely different information: the money will be credited back via check on the 27th! This, after I specifically asked the Eric guy which form will the refund be in because I wanted to make sure that it will be transferred electronically, since I will be out of the country on the 27th. It seems that all along I was feeding lies, starting with the first guy which told me that the automatic payment will be stopped in time, to the Eric guy promising me that the refund will be done electronically the same way it came out of the account and in no more than 24 to maximum 48 hours and now to this Juliana which is giving me a total different story! I got so fed up with their lies and lack of professionalism! I asked to talk with the manager, Bmit, and of course I was only transferred to the voice mail, without her giving me a number to call back to, in case it gets disconnected, and now I'm hoping for someone to call me back take care of this mess! I won't be in town to cash the stupid check on the 27th and I need the money this week, not next week! This is MY MONEY that I request back and I request them electronically the same way I have sent them! Why is it so FRUSTRATING and ANNOYING to deal with these people! I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH SUCH A HORRIBLE COMPANY AND LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE CUSTOMER! BE AWARE WHEN YOU DECIDE TO GET A LOAN OF ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER FROM WELLS FARGO DEALER SERVICES!

Excessive withdrawl from Bank Account
Had automatic payment of $500 monthly to withdraw from my bank, final payment owed was $286 but they withdrew the $500. I was told it would take 2 weeks to get a refund. They stole my money and I have to wait?!?

late payments/repo
I too have a similar problem as some of the "complainers" on your site. We fell behind 2 payments with wells fargo dealer services due to financial problems. (we only have 3 months on the car and it is ours!) I/my husband have spent hours on the phone with these people reitterating the same story. They should really type it up and keep better notes. Anyway, my husband called on 4/22/11 after we received a repo notice. What a joke! I can't believe companies send out repo notices for only 2 months late. I can understand 5 or 6 months...but 2. He told the "repo man" our situation, again, and that we will make a payment on Monday, 4/26 after a check I deposited in our checking account clears. The person told him wells farge really needs both payments. My husband told him I really can't do both. I can have the second one in two weeks. My husband said the repo man said okay. So I called our bank today, Monday, to see if the check cleared so I can make the payment. It hadn't. So I called my bank and they said today is the 25th, not the 26th. So naturally I had to call wells fargo again. The person I got was the same person my husband spoke with on Friday. I explained the mix up. He said let me see what I can do. He gets back on the phone and said I need two payments, not one. If it is a letter of repossession I can only take what is on the letter. I told him I didn't have it and what would he like me to do. He said he has to follow the rules. . .he sounded like the type of person that follows rules. I told him I only have three payments left why would I not want to pay my car off. He said they'll have to repossess it then. I said you can't do that. He said what is the address you're at, I'm going to send someone over there now to get the car. Then he hung up on me. That's how wells fargo deals with their customers. Nice work!!!

Hardship
With the American economy currently facing a 9.2% unemployment rate you would think the company who identifies itself as an American company and proudly displays images of a stage coach at every branch would be more than happy to help the Americans who for years have bought into the various services and banking products offered by Wells Fargo but who are struggling to make ends meet in today’s tough economy. I have a car loan with Wells Fargo in 2009, I cosigned for my little brother who didn't have enough established credit to qualify on his own and he was to make the payments every month. He paid on time every month for over a year until he lost his job this past January. At that point I picked up the payments and have been making them late ever since because I simply did not have room in my budget for an extra car payment. I have pared down my budget considerably to try to maintain the payments but the payment is simply getting harder and harder to make. I turned to my car company in hopes on getting a payment differed to help me to stay afloat. The agent I initially spoke with was rude and unsympathetic to my situation in fact she made the comment and I quote "Maybe I'm not understanding but I do not see what your hardship is” at that point I asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor I spoke to had the nerve to tell me and again I quote "unemployment is not a hardship but once he is back to work call us back and we should be able to help you". I was completely blown away that a company that boasts being American owned and operated could be so unsympathetic to the hardships facing its American customers. I also have a car payment with American Honda Finance and when I called for help with my payment this non American company was more than happy to help!

Repo
I already know a remark I am going to get " you owed e money, it is your own fault". And I agree. That being said, i want to share my story.

Last year I got a month and then 2 months behind. I repeatedly did as Wachovia requested (now Wells Fargo), and contacted them. But they were rude each time? The long story had to repeated numerous times, even though i would be assured that notes were made to avoid the story telling. So, if i didn't contact, they got even more aggressive and mean. I would yet again be told that wouldn't be the case if I would contact them. This was not true, but they wouldn't be 'as rude' as they were when I don't contact them. Two of the lesser evils, then?

I still need to tell you I paid every month after I got behind and told them i could catch up when i got my tax money in February. I got an extremly rude girl in January who said if I didn't pay the 2 months plus the upcoming payment that day, it was being put in for repo. I explained I could in February, but she ended the call with the threat. Well, i needed my car to take car of my daughter, get to work and get to the doctor ( last year i was rear ended and can only work part time now and go to a doctor twice a month). So almost three years ago i was laid off ( I was employed for 11 years and made a good living), took a job at half my salary ( I am a divorced mom and needed to take a job to take care of my 11 yr old daughter AND just spent my 401k to argue with my ex husband and still can't get the child support order enforced; a whole different drama). So i have less income, fighting for child support, and no savings left. Add losing my dad to Parkinsons last spring and being hurt in an accident in the fall ( i now can only work part time and the girl who hit me is 18 years old and barely any insurance). I had been paying every month this year and promised to catch up in February, and even made the January payment (after the re.po threat).

Got my tax money last Friday. Needed to find out the total due, but the bank was closed for the holiday this weekend. Monday at 2 am, they repo'd the car. The one lucky thing i needed to mention is that my long time boyfriend ( I am 45 yrs old) just moved here from out of state, so I had someone for assistance. I called WF to get the amount due to reclaim; they kept telling me to call back. Finally, they tell me they do not want to reinstate the loan, partially because i made it difficult for hem to repo.

Well, to be honest, in January I did not have the money to keep it out of repo and could not have afforded to pay to relaim it. I would not have it to get to work or the doctors. So I have to say it was an obvious choice to need to prolong it as long as possible (and hope I could make it til the tax money arived it). And at least my boyfriend is here to drive me around until he finds me a car. Yes he was going to help me in March if need be, so he will just help with this.

After all of the backround; what is the complaint? Well, repeatedly being treated badly, despite folowing the instruction given, full disclosure repeadly, paying consistently after being late (showing a low risk profile), and repeatedly promising to catch up in February, and they repo in the same month previously promised. In a time when banks have a bad rap, some banks (forclosures) are trying to be customer friendly but WF is rude from late day 1 of this car loan. The same economic issues are affecting my mortgage, yet BOA is trying to work with me but WF is the polar opposite. A home has more importance than a car, but it is a key factor for taking care of a child, medical needs, and to keep employment. Why is that lost on WF? Especially with the backround explained

irvine ca location
I had my car repossesed on a Wednesday. I called the dept. and they said I could not get any information for 48 hours but I called the next day anyway, spoke to George in the reinstatement dept. He said I would receive a letter stating the dollar amount or pay the amount he quotes me now. I told him I would pay now and his comment was you cant pay it so your car is already gone to auction including my personal items in it and why am I wasting his time. I asked for a supervisor but was told not available. This was Thursday, I called back spoke to Ivan he gave me the information where to send the money via money gram so I did. He gave me the number where my car and my personal items were. It was a company called 7 Star in Santa Ana. I left 11 messages, Thursday, Friday, and no return call, it was a answering service I was dealing with. So, on Friday called Wells Fargo back and of course George answered, he told me a address to pick my car up. When I got there it was a UPS mailbox location. I called back Wells Fargo it was now 3:00 and they said everyone has left in that dept and have to call on Monday. Today is Monday still no car and nobody to contact. By law I believe I am suppose to get my personal items as soon as possible. I had money and jewelry in my car. I am screwed now. Does anyone know what I can do about this? I understand it was my fault not being able to pay on time but I paid and I should not receive this kind of abuse? Let me know, I still do not know where my mercedes and personal items are. HELP...
