JD Byrider Reviews

Terrible experience
I went to JD Byrider on East Colonial in Orlando, Florida and tried to apply for financing. I answered all of the questions on the application and went my sales person, Rolando, went over it, he told me my rent was too high to qualify for financing and told me to say it was $300 instead of $565. When I met with the finance manager, I told her my rent was $565 and she said my application stated $300 and I explained that it was Rolando who changed it. She then asked me to wait while she processed my application. I waited from 11:30am till 1pm with no answer. I went to check and she said she'd be with me shortly and to leave her office. I sat and waited from 1pm til 3pm and again was told they had no answer and to wait. At 4pm, I told them I needed an answer right then and she told me I'd been declined for credit but they weren't sure why. I was to receive a letter in the mail as to the reasons and it's been 3 months and I have no letter. What's worse is there are now 3 credit inquiries from their company and an open loan stating I have a car from them! After numerous phone calls, I've gotten nowhere.

Terrible company
I had some financial trouble in the past with mostly medical bills and had to file bankruptcy. Due to this I couldn't get a car loan. The car I was driving was a 94 with over 220K miles. It was always breaking down and that was making me miss work. I needed another car. I didn't have the money for a big down payment and ended up at JD Byrider. Well, at first the "program" sounded great and the salesman, who doesn't work for them anymore, made it sound wonderful. I had never bought a car before with payments since all the others I had were bought outright from friends and private deals.

So, I signed up for the "program" and bought a 2001 Ford Taurus with 73K miles. It ran great for the first few months but now the trans is slipping badly, the rotors are warped and a bunch of little things like dash lights and mirror adjustments are not working.

A few months ago, August 20th, I lost my job but found another one quickly and didn't fall behind on my payments at all. I did call them to see if I could pay weekly since that is how the new job was paying me and they said that was fine. All was well for a bit until I realized I wasn't able to keep that job due to the lifting requirement not being disclosed to me at first and my health not allowing me to do it. So, I went to another job which is working out great. In the month that I was out of work I fell one week behind on my payments and the phone calls started. They call me sometimes 5 times a day even though I just made a payment in person and they were very nice. The account manager who holds my account, Debbie at the Hermitage, PA location, is EVIL! I called the one week to let them know that I got mandated and would not be able to make it in by 6pm to make my payment. I would drive up after work to put it in the drop box. She literally screamed at me and told me I was an irresponsible idiot and if I wanted to keep my car then I would find a way up there right then to pay it. Up to this point I had never been even a day late!

Right now, I still have the car but am a week behind on payments because I don't get a check until the 11/05 and I told them this and that I would catch up everything on that day. They keep telling me they're coming to get my car so I keep hiding it even though I've never seen a tow truck at my house, I have video surveillance. I don't know how soon they actually come to repo but that Debbie lady told me that if I was even 1 day late they would be out that night to get my car.

They have no sympathy for anyone. Haven't any of them ever fallen in a pinch and needed a few weeks to pay something? Have a heart people. I'm not *** that they sold me a car that was worth 5K for over 11K or that it is already having problems which they won't fix. I just wanted a short amount of time to get caught up. I will never recommend them to anyone and I am going through a legal service to find out if there is any recourse for harassment and being treated the way that woman did to me. I don't speak to anyone in that way and I sure won't accept it from her.

Terrible experience
I am an auto technician for j.d.byryder and I just wanted to say that the cars at our dealership go through a rigorous inspection to ensure that our customers get the best product that will hopefully not have any problems. I have seen cars rejected for sale that didn't meet the stringent standards that have to be met before the cars are allowed to be sold. I am sorry that some of you have had car problems how ever, It is a used car after all. Our dealership has only the best technicians working on our cars. We always try to do whats right and do our best. J.D. ByRyder A.S.E. certified auto repair technician.

Harassment
JD Byrider in Clementon NJ has an mechanic who is spanish who on a constant basis sexually harasses any woman who may come to the garage for any reason, be it employee, delivery person, or someone there to get their car fixed. The owner is aware of this and takes no actions to correct the situation. We should boycott this business until this "man" is kicked to the curb! DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company! I have written the main office to complain and as of this point have heard nothing back. If you read this and know where I am speaking of beep as you go by as a form of complaint!

I hate JD ByRyder!!! I did not have good credit and I knew I was getting screwed before I even bought it. I had no other choice, now the car has been in the shop for 1 month and they are still trying to do all of these minor fixes that are costing me more money. I know its my fault for not having good credit, but they should not take advantage so much, like jack the price up on the car $4, 000 more than book value and trying to kill you with small repairs before they get to the real problem.

Maybe were preaching to the choir but, it feels good to tell other people how bad this company is.

P.S. The day I bought the car I took all stickers and license plate frames off of my car. I hate JB Byryder!!!

Engine falling apart from the inside
I bought a car from jdbyrider about 2 years ago. I have had to replace the gear shift and now I am without a car. My car shut off on me, would not start back up. I had it towed to a mechanic and they told me that I had a rod in the engine, And that the engine was falling apart. Now granted I do not know how the people before treated the car. But the fact is that it is the responsibility of the car dealership to know the conditions of the car. Also to let the consumer of these problems. Well, we contacted them and they said that they could not refinance me (not that I would want to but as a last resort) unless I had 2, 000 to put down. I didn't have that much when I first got the car, so why the *** would they want that much now. All they did was tell us to call the next day and talk to the mechanic. For what so they can put faulty parts in there and charge me up the you know what. I don't think so. Please be aware of how they are. They take advantage of you. Now I have no car and I have 2 kids. Do you think they really care.

Rip-off artists
My husband and I were struggling with bad credit from our divorces, and JD Byrider seemed to be the only option for us. In Oct 2006, we bought a 1999 Ford Contour from the Mansfield, OH dealership. We knew that the interest rate would be WAY more than with a normal dealership, but our other car at the time was about to go, and we felt we had no other choice.

The car came with the 18 month, 18000 mile warranty...thank GOD...because during the last 18 months of owning the piece of crap, it has been in the shop about a dozen times. Lets see, fuel pump, alternator, fuel pump again (the service mgr said the other guy did it wrong), brake rotors (they fell off in the mech hand), fuel pump AGAIN (mgr said a bad part was used by mistake, which was the least of my problems since I broke down in the middle of the intersection during rush hour), alternator AGAIN (ground wire not secured and it blew it), and the engine light is on constantly (they say it is normal to have faulty lights and/or fuses). There is more, but those are the highlights.

To top it off, the management (not at the store, but at the district office) is rude, obnoxious, and bullies. We have made numerous complaints about the car, and even tried to trade it in to get a car from a reputable dealer. They told us to pay on it another year to get our amount owed down under $5000 and they would take some off the amount owed so we could trade it in. We have been paying for it for 18 months, and we still owe almost three times what it is worth!

We are in the process of trying to decide what to do. All I can tell you is PLEASE DO NOT buy from them. They know they have you over a barrel, and they have no problems reminded you of it OFTEN. Take the bus, buy a piece of crap with cash, something. Believe me when I say you will be fixing one of their cars more than you would be your piece of crap that you don't owe any money on!

I worked at all three corporate stores. When I first started working there I was told to fix the vehicles as if my wife were going to drive them. I thought how could a place that thinks like this have such a bad rep. Well as the years passed and I went from the store I started at to the main store the value of the company switched from customer satisfaction to the bottom line. As usual you start out with a good idea and it gets turned around by corporate greed. I went from fixing the autos to fixing what had to be fixed to sell it. The little power struggles in the company just made these issue worse. One of the companies supposed policies is promote within, unless you a technician, no matter how hard you work to go up the ladder you'll always be their peon. I recall times when I've repair vehicles with duct tape, and window caulk. Yes customer cars and this was what I was told to do. When and if you go to buy a car expect 18 to 20+ percent interest and you probably won't know what the total price of this vehicle is till your poised over the final paper with pen in hand. They do NOT replace major components with ANY rebuilt parts they are salvage yard parts. Engines differentials are all replace with JUNKYARD PARTS!!!I know I did it at the main store for over three years. Not a franchise store but the MAIN CORPERATE STORE! Another supposed value is truth and honesty in everything that you say and do. Except when it isn't convenient for the bottom line. And when you think they should just trade you out of the lemon you've got and they give you the supreme run around. Remember the company president backed his Hummer into a guy’s truck out at his house and just gave him another truck from the main store inventory. Once you sign the papers, they have you! You have no recourse, believe me they've been doing this for years and they have some very smart lawyers and financial advisors on their payroll or in their pocket.

I highly suggest you look for that GOOD CAR anywhere but at J D Byrider!!!
