I purchased a Compaq Laptop around 3 years ago, and after a year and a half of usage it caught on fire. The battery pack exploded and shards came out. Fortunately no one was injured, but the incident happened in a University Residence. The damage seemed extensive and they provided us with a damage bill. Upon informing HP of my laptop, they took my old one in for inspection and sent me a new one. I was told that we would be in communication over the payment of the bill and how it would work.
