Travelling from Gatwick (North Terminal) to Palma on 31st December 2009 at approx. 10.30 a.m. I beeped going through security. The woman started to frisk me and, looking at my footwear, barked "Boots off". I was a little taken aback and told her that they had a machine for checking footwear at Palma (just introduced). To which she replied "you're not in Palma now you're in Gatwick and if you wear 'Doc Martins' then you've got to expect to beep".
