Recently I have been redeployed from Afghanistan to Europe. I traveled via Dubai and had an Emirates flight out. While admitting to having excess baggage, I noted that the fees charged by emirates were more than buying an additional ticket on the routing. This additional ticket would have provided me with adequate baggage allowances, but the agent refused, even though there were more than 0 seats open on the flight.
