On 27 November 2009, I applied for a home loan through a bond originator. On 12 December, the home loan was approved. I was delighted and pleasantly surprised by the efficient service of Standard Bank. Upon discovering that the bond originators had not been honest and upfront about the fact that although the assessor appointed by the bank valued the property at the same value as the purchase price, the full amount would not be advanced if one uses a bond originator rather than apply in person, I cancelled the home loan on 18 February.
