It had been about 3 months since I last used my HSBC card. I have had it since 1998 and it was in good standing. I used it online and it was rejected. I called HSBC and found out that it the account had been closed due to inactivity. NO NOTICE given at all. I was told I could reapply. I asked if it would be closed again if I didn't use it in 3 months and was told yes. This could have been a big problem if I was using it for airline tickets to get somewhere for an emergency and this was the only card I had.
