Upon moving to Singapore, we chose to use 121 Personnel Services to find a helper, as they were accredited by CaseTrust Singapore. Their services were shocking. They charge you a lot of money and promise to vent the ladies before sending them to you, but they DO NOT. After explaining that we had two small children (age 4 & 7 and a dog), they sent us ladies who hated dogs, were allergic to them, had all been fired from their previous employers, one lady they 'recommended' had just been fired for drinking on the job and admitted to having a problem with alcohol! The list is endless. The last lady they send to us was deemed 'emotionally mentally unfit' for the job by our family physician; she had been telling awful thing our children, too awful to mention. They all lied on their applications and in our service. We know two of the ladies for certain and guessing by their previous behavior, the third who was mentally unfit, were all excepted back into the agency and 'recommended' to future unsuscpecting employers. 121 professes and charges you to 'train' the prospective helpers, which I assure you, they do not. They charge you 3X the cost of medical examinations. There are so many hidden costs which are false.
We had been in Asia for 17 years and had fantastic long term (6 years, 6 years, 4 years) relationships with 3 previous helpers, so we knew it was not because of us that we were having such a difficult time. We spent thousands of dollars, never to regain any of it, our kids had a very difficult time adjusting to Singapore all as a result of 121. Their only concern, truly, is to make as much money off of you as possible, not to help you in any way. Since finally changing agents, our lives have settled as have our children. We now have the most amazing angel of a helper who is honest, helpful, joyful and bliss to have around. I write this because I do not want any newcomers into Singapore to be faced with the same problem. There are many agencies who help you find a very suitable, honest, hard working, wonderful 'helper.' Avoid 121 Personnel. There is a reason why their website tells you over and over why you can't always get a perfect fit so they'll replace your helpers!
