unfair treatment
24 hour fitness deal. Pay upfront for 3 years, you will only pay $50/year thereafter.

I paid one year membership July 2009, through their website and it will expire soon.

A lot of members are enjoying paying only $50 per year, but 24 hour fitness took away this deal last July.

This deal was only informed to customers who visited and signed up with a sales person.

It was not informed in their web site at all.

It is not fair .!!

Do I need to buy a membership for 3 years, then I need to buy it again? Price will go up each time.

CUSTOMER SERVICE/ PAYMENT
i'm really upset about 24hour fitness customer service line. i had my account freezed for certain period of time and 24hour fitness reactivated on their own and charged my debit card. when i called to ask about this situation, only thing a guy telling me was that it can reactivate itself. i was really upset and ask for refund, and only reply was i can just go to the gym for a month. this is the worst customer service ever. i wanted to talk to the manager and the guy put me on hold for more then 10 mins, and i just hung up. when i freezed my account, they never told me anything about reactivation. when i asked to talk to the manager, this guy's only reply was " did i answer all of your questions?". he was mocking me for sure, he repeated the same question "did i answer all of your questions?" 3 times in a row.
worst service ever...
before you freeze the account at 24 hours, be sure to ask every little detail about reactivation and other hidden fees.

Billing
While attending a local professional sports game I won two free annual memberships to 24 hour fitness. I went to the club and filled out necessary paperwork to register for the membership without any apparent problems, but began to get charged for the membership within a couple of months of having joined. I've called the club twice and not been able to get someone on the phone who could help me, and even showed up once in person to the club and was told I needed to come back when a certain manager was there.

Bad personal Trainer
"Buyer Beware" Do not hire this personal trainer.
I purchased a package of 20, 50 minute personal training for over $1000. The first couple started out ok but it wasn't my husband signed up for training and was able to get a trainer that did a far better job. I noticed this trainer would come to the sessions unprepared and would try to wing the whole thing which was very obvious. She also would cut my sessions short my 5-10 minutes. The final breaking point was when I had to go out of town for a 3 week period and couldn't see her. When I came back I had lost 10 pounds due to really watching what I ate and logging everything along with walking. She was not happy that I had lost the 10 pounds instead she said my measurements had gone up and my body fat had only gone down by 1 tenth of a percent. At this point I decided not to say anything because I knew I had lost the weight fit into my smaller pants and she tried to tell me my hip measurement had gone up. Insane! At this point I started to realize that everytime my weight went up by just a little she would tell me my measurments had gone down or if I lost weight my measurements were the same so that I would continue to think I needed her. Every session she would hound me about committing to go 2 times a week when I told her I could not afford this. It wasn't until I had to cancel a session and didn't see her week and half this was after I had lost the 10 pounds, the next week I gained 1 back and she tried to tell me I had gone up 2% in body fat. I asked to explain this because it didnt make since that I had lost 10 pounds and only gone down a tenth of a percent, then all the sudden I gain one pound can go up 2% in body fat. She could not give me an explnation just kept saying I needed to see her more, so when I continued to question her she got snotty with me and said why dont I go get the f*cking book!!! At this point I said Im done and walked away because as the client you should never be cussed or yelled at. Then she proceeded to follow me out of the room and yell at me in front of the gym. She is real professional when she does something like that. Do not hire this women!!! Avoid her at all cost.

Discriminates against the obese
I was refused entry to a class that had 7 open spots for sign up. I asked the guy why I couldn't go in and he wouldn't give me any explanation except the class was full. Then, he let 2 other people in the class after turning me away. I weigh over 200 pounds.

I complained to higher ups and received rudeness and chauvenism. Nobody has given me any more explanation than it was a "mistake" and they that's that. I feel I've been discriminated against and I think I was not allowed in the class because they perceived me to be some sort of liability because of my weight.

Every person at 24 Fitness I have spoken to about this has been apathetic and rude.

Awful treatment by rude employee
I have been a member for over a year now and never been humiliated by certain employee James until today.

My 8 yrs old son and I playing basketball in the gym and been told that the my son is not allowed to play basketball...We have been doing this for almost a year now about 3 times a week... The only reason why I signed up for a three year contract because I have been told by a member services that I can bring my son along with me to the facility where he can swim and play basketball...Why the policy has been change? Is it because I’m Asian? Why there's other white folks playing with their kids under 12 yrs old in the facility? A rude employee such James shouldn't be working with your company w/ a great expectation of customer service...My son loves to play basketball and by taking his privilege away means a lot to me as a parent...I am hoping that James kids wouldn't be treated as we we're treated badly today...I feel that I would enroll to other fitness center that we will be treated fairly because of our skin... Is 24 hour fitness prefers white folks over us Asian?

Dues Increase???
I have been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for nearly 20 years. I even worked for them in the late 1990's & early 2000's. By working for them I knew the service agreements like the back of my hand. Every section and every clause...

This month, I was balancing my account and noticed... my 24 Hour Fitness dues were increased?!? I was like... hold on, I know my contract did not allow for a dues increase nor did it give 24 Hour Fitness the right to raise my dues.

I called the club I go to and the worker told me they sent me a letter last month notifing me of the increase and 24 Hour Fitness's agreements reserve the right to increase dues... yadda yadda yadda. She confirmed my address on file and I did not recieve a letter. I am also signed up via their e-mail system... and didnt get an e-mail either.

I tried to explain that I knew my agreement front back and side to side as I worked for the company and it does not allow a dues increase and I know the agreements have changed 3 times since I have worked for them.

Long story short... I asked for a copy of my original agreement/contract and the worker stated, I can send you our current agreement. I explained I didnt want the current one as I signed and agreed to a different one... she placed me on hold and when she came back she said she would try and request it but it would cost me $20.00 and she doubted they could get me the original copy as 24 Hour Fitness has basically closed their corporate offices in Southern California and moved everything to Asia to save money.

The increase is not that large... but its the principle. Not to mention if they increased my dues... they have or will increase the other 5 million + members which easily adds hundreds of millions to their company...
Is this legal? Can they do this? I dont want to cancel my membership as the club is 2 blocks from my house... and I know the local workers can not do anything...
What if anything can I do??????

Breach of Contract
Joined 24 Hour Fitness many years ago with a large payment up front for the first 3 years. This contract guaranteed a set rate of renewal for "lifetime" after completion of the first 3 years. The contract was for an "All Club" this included the upper level "Sport Club". 24 Hour is now remodeling and upgrading many of the clubs that have been neglected for years in order to compete with more modern competitors. The signs they hang on the remodeled club include the adjective Super in front of Sport. When they add the adjective Super 24 Hour claims this then allows them to deny access to "All Club " members unless they are willing to "upgrade their membership" This is simply a thinly disguised attempt at voiding current rates and forcing higher rates on long time customers that have locked in rates. If you would be interested in the possibility of a class action and are a currently effected "All Club member please visit the following site for more info.

Poor, Unprofessional Customer Service
I have been a 24 Hour Fitness member since 2000. I got a deal with them back then with prepaid of 3 yr of membership, and $99 annual due thereafter. I haven't been really working out for the past couple of years and using their facility maybe once in a blue moon. I went in to work out couple weeks ago and was informed that my membership was terminated due to missing payment. The only way they can activate my membership is to provide proof of payment. My annual due date is 6/22/09, which is 7 months ago and I can't remember how I paid it and not to mention tracking my proof of payment. Basically, 24 Hour Fitness staff told me it's my problem, not their problem and nothing they can do about it. I went work out 8/31/09 (I put a comment on my Facebook and that's how I remember my last workout date), and no one told me that they didn't receive my due in June. Apparently, 24 Hour Fitness does have a 90 day grace period, so if someone would have told me I missed my payment when I last worked out on 8/31/09, I would have paid $99 and stayed on my membership (though I believe I made the payment but somehow didn't go through, as I have been paying for the last 10 years). All 24 Hour Fitness staff said "Sorry about that, again nothing we can do". I called the Club and membership services, all I got was run-around and "nothing we can do" & "you can negotiate a new contract with us". One membership service rep did tell me that he saw a note about payment on my account, but the company never got through it. He needed to check with Support Team and would get back to me. Of course, I never hear back from 24 Hr Fitness. I called again, and 24 Hr Fitness acted like nothing had happened and never heard my situation. <br />
I am completely pissed at the way they treat loyal customer. There's always a solution to something. 24 Hour Fitness just simply doesn't care, they are after $, not care about you as a customer, not care about your health (They pretend they do when they try to persuade you to sign the Personal Training sessions). I see it as they try to screw me out of the sweet deal I got 10 yrs ago. I have no faith in this company and completely disappointed about how they treat consumers. DON"T GO TO 24 Hour Fitness, unprofessional, unethical, disgusting customer services.
