A Telkom cable got cut by a tractor lawnmower at around 11am today 26 November 2010 and all three our lines went down. In the neighbourhood there were lots of people standing around the site where the cable had been damaged and a telkom technican was also there - he drove past when it happened and stopped to see what was going on. He mentioned that the cable contains about 800 individual telephone lines. We have web servers and various other servers at our offices which are required to be on all the time. I visited the site where the cable has been damaged to find Telkom employees there, they said to me that nobody is going to come out on a Friday afternoon to fix it. He said it will take about three hours to join, but they guys might come tomorrow to do it. "You won't find anyone to come out now." Nevermind that the cable has already been down for six hours. Telkom's service is shocking as always. If only we could get by without them...
