I lost my cell on 6th Sept 2007 so I deactivate my service with Airtel. On 21th Sept I went to Airtel malad (w) ARC to activate my service with Airtel.

Now I want new mob No. Instead of that old number so am ready to buy new sim card paying @99/-
But customer care Exc. from Malad ARC told me that I have to pay up to Rs 5000/- if I want any specific or particular number.

Is that ok that i have to pay this much for no??? Suggest anyone.
