Poor service!
Outgoing on my phone had been barred as Airtel demanded that I pay the bill. I have according cleared my bills on 28th of june 2007. I was told at the airtel office that my phone will be activated within 2 - 4 hours.
It has been more than 20 hours now and outgoing on the phone is still not activated. Have tried to get in touch with Airtel through their customer care. What I here from them even after 20 hours is that my phone will be activated in 2 - 4 hours.
When I asked the customer care agent to provide me a no. where I can log in an official complain, I was given a no. which leads to a fax machine. I agree with another consumer who has logged in a complain on this website that dialing the customer care for Airtel is a pain in the ***. A constant jabbering of the airtel offers keep on happening, and there is no option anywhere to go to the previous menu or to speak to a customer care agent.
Airtel experience of mine has been a big disappointment. Unfortunately for me, I cannot change the connection as it is an official no. and all the employees of the company are using airtel connection. Do not know the customer service quality of hutch but would definitely recommend people to go for it.

Poor service!
I have applied for activation of duplicate sim. They can't solve this great technical problem after 14 requests. My humble request to all my friends who wants to get a new connection, please don't go for AIRTEL. You may not find better service anywhere in india, but at least you don't have to pay big bucks for the worst service.

Poor service!
My no. had been deactivated by Airtel as they wanted the bill to be cleared. I had immediately cleared my bills in the nearest Airtel office. I was told then that outgoing on my phone will be activated within 2 - 4 hours.
It has been close to 20 hours now and the outgoing has not been activated. When I called the customer care of Airtel, the agent again repeated that the outgoing will be activated within 2 - 4 hours. I also agree with one of the previous consumers who have logged in a complain at this website. The customer care service of Airtel is a pain in the ***. First of all, it takes god knows what to be able to speak to an operator. The airtel offers don't seem to have an end. Also their is no option of being able to go back to the previous menu.
I also asked the customer care agent with whom I was able to speak to, to provide me with a no. where I can log in an official complain. I was given a no. which led to a fax machine.
Unfortunately for me, I cannot change my no. as it is a corporate connection and all the employees of my organization use airtel. I am not aware of the quality of customer care of hutch or idea but would definitely recommend people to switch over to those services rather than using airtel.

Unable to stop to ringtone facility
I am having prepaid connection of Airtel. Since last 2 months, I am contacting on 121 No. & our local area Airtel office, but till date my facility has not stopped & monthly Rs. 40 are cutting through my balance money.
Airtel has provided facility through sms no 666, & I want to stop that facility. No any responsible authority looking towards this problem.

Closing of outgoing facility
I received bill of Rs. 707/- from Airtel for which i deposited cheque of Rs. 707/-. The amount has been deducted from my Bank account.
Airtel people informed that they have not received the bill amount for which i provided all the details viz. date of debit of amount, cheque no etc.
Despite providing the details they have today closed the outgoing facility which is very disgusting.
Apart from above i repeatedly informed Airtel that the number of incoming call is not being displayed in my mobile. The error persist even i changed my mobile set. That means the problem is within the SIM provided by Airtel.

Excess deduction of balance!
On 15/05/07at around 8:20 pm i got e-recharged my mobile with rs. 112 pack in which i am supposed to be charged rs. 0.10 per minute to any local airtel number. Transaction id was 1428084253 . On 15/05/07 at around 8:55 pm i called a local airtel number (number was 9871054917) for about 8 minutes & 17 seconds. The balance before calling the said number was rs. 1634.57 & after calling the said number was rs. 1630.07. I was charged rs. 4.50, but i should have been charged rs.0.90 only.
(For the above fault i had already made a complaint with airtel customer care on 18.05.07 & the complaint number was 051812640500. Also i got a email from [email protected] that there the balance deducted was right & there is nofault in the system.)
Again on 20/05/07at around 12.04 noon i called a local airtel number (number was 9871054917) for about 8 minutes & 14 seconds. The balance before calling the said number was rs. 1619.19 & after calling the said number was rs. 1614.69. I was charged rs. 4.50, but i should have been charged rs. 0.90 only.
People beware!!!

No bill received and they have cut the phone
We corporate people have decided to cut down the thread of Airtel vandalism. They are not sending bills. Suddenly one day they will cut your outgoing.
We are now small in numbers but will go for another subscriber.

On Date: "27/06/2007” at 11:30 pm IST I have made 2 calls to AIRTEL Customer Care Department for Maharashtra and Goa (121/9890098900) and what happened on both the calls:
First Call: Call got connected to Mr. Javed (Full name not given by the executive).
Question asked (My self): Want to know shortcuts keys for activating and deactivating Call diverts and call waiting services.
Executive (Mr. Javed) : He kept me on hold for nearly 1.3 mins and then he was just refreshing me and after nearly 2 mins he talked to me and started telling me the procedure for activating and deactivating Call diverts and call waiting services, i again repeated my query that "Want to know shortcuts keys for activating and deactivating Call diverts and call waiting services” he again kept me on hold for nearly 2 mins and said he don't know the shortcuts so he can’t assist me , please check my handset manual,
Customer (My Self): I have lost my handset manual that’s why i have called the customer care department.
Executive (Mr. Javed): Kept me on hold again for a minute and said that he can’t help me .So please checks your handset manual.
Customer (My Self): If you are not able to give me the shortcut keys then please I want to talk to your Team Leader/Floor Walker/Supervisor.
Executive (Mr. Javed): Yes sir please hold a line for not more than a minute while that I transfer this call to the floor supervisor Mr. Abhishek.
Executive Kept me on hold for nearly 2 mins and call was disconnected after 2.2 mins.
Background sounds: Many executives voice was there and one special sound (in hindi )“Yaar ye customer bahut pareshan kar raha hai please dekh na year, abbey udaa dey (disconnect the call) main dekh ta hun baad mein” and call got disconnected.
Second Call: Call got connected to Mr. Rombin (Full name not given by the executive).
Question asked (My self): Want to talk to floor supervisor/Team Leader/Manager.
Executive (Mr. Rombin): He asked me the reason and I have explained him every thing about the first call.
Customer (My Self): Will you please connect me to your supervisor/TL/Manager.
Executive (Mr. Rombin): Yes sir , I will surely connect this call to Supervisor/TL
Customer (My Self): Ok
Executive (Mr. Rombin): Please hold a line.
Executive Kept me on hold for nearly 1.2 mins and call was disconnected after 1.6 mins without any confirmation and without any resolution.
Is this the way the executive should behave with the customers and if they can’t assist or can’t resolve the concern then why they don’t transfer the call to their seniors and even seniors are disconnecting the call.

Service is really pathetic
After sales services from Airtel are pathetic. I have a prepaid number on my name. I got a call from customer care sometime back whether i wanted my prepaid connection to converted to a post paid one. I refused for that offer but i needed one more post paid connection so i called their representative to my house. I gave him all the necessary documents. After that i got a call from the customer care on my prepaid number that your number will soon be converted to Prepaid . I told them that i dont want to convert this number as i had applied for a new number. Then also they converted my prepaid number into a post paid connection, and just a couple of days i had recharged it so all my balance went. For converting it back to prepaid i visited the vega center office 3 times , and after many quarrels with the staff when i told them that i wanted to meet the higher official they updated the database and my prepaid started working. But for around a week only i was able to make only outgoing calls and when contacted with customer care they told me that it is a network problem. How ever those idiots did not know that if i am able to make outgoing call than how can network problem affect the incoming calls. Again i had to go to the Vega center office at pune and then it was resolved. Now for the past 3 weeks i am not able to send any sms from my number. I am able to receive sms but when i try to send it gives me a message "Service Not Available". I have lodged the complaint with the customer care around 7-8 times and every time i get a stupid answer that it will be resolved in 24 hours. I am now frustrated with the services its really pathetic. I think customer care in Airtel does not have any SLA's. I will not recommend anyone to use Airtel .
