Registration is useless!
I am a resident surgeon, and i am sick of being disturbed by sms's and calls from airtel selling me some ring tone or the other. I have no wish to buy any ringtone or ANYTHING else for that matter. They invariable call when i am on duty, disturbing me, or when i am sleeping the little bit i can, their call or sms wakes me up with me panicking, as sms or call means there is some trouble in ward n i have to go immediately. I cannot afford to switch off the ringtones. I had registered for the 'do not disturb' thing 1 month back, but not only has it been of no use, i am also unable to contact customer care since then. I have wasted a lot of time trying to contact them.

Annoying phone calls
1) How on earth do you contact airtel anymore?! Their customer nos. give you useless recorded messages and you never get to talk to any real people

2) They appear to be using this 'name and address confirmation' thing to harass customers at every hour of the day. I've got about 20 calls about it; do they ever take down this information or is this just an opportunity for their call centre people to have something to do while they're sitting around not taking actual complaint calls?

False advertising & unjustified deduction
On this Sunday I got 1 message from Airtel from 678000 saying "Your Hello Tunes Subscription Pack for 30 days has been updated. Dial 678 to select the latest songs as your Hello Tunes."

As it was free of cost I dialed 678 to set a latest song as Hello Tune for my number. Immediately after that my account was debited with Rs. 65. I downloaded this Hello Tune only because it is free. I don't want if it is being charged. This is unfair to me and I want my money credited back to my account.

I called your customer care executives twice on 15 Jan & 16 Jan. They said you deactivate your hello tune by dialing "*106#" and your money will be credited back to your account within 24 hours. It has not been done till now.

Lastly when I called customer care executive today (Jaideep Nimbalkar) he told me that your money will not be credited back to your account. He also said that you are fooling around by saying that it was not mentioned in your message that downloading a latest song will cost you money. You will have to come to our office and bla bla bla.

Outgoing blocked
I am using this Airtel number 9818969413 since last three years. In November I received messages and calls from airtel customer care asking me to submit identity proof and address proof for verification. As I have recently shifted to Delhi, I did not have any documents. It took time for me to get the PAN and Rent Agreement made. Since then I am wondering where to submit these papers? The vendor from whom I bought the SIM told me the address which I could not access due to my busy work schedule and also due unawareness of the places and convince in Delhi. On December 7th, When I recharged my phone with one month's validity, I found that my outgoing is already barred (though they did not forget to update the accounts). On January 10th, I could manage to find one Airtel spot at Sarita Vihar, H-Block Market. There I dropped the papers in drop box as told by the fellow there and also got the phone recharged with one month's validity. The accounts were cleared with immediate effect. I received the message of recharging but my outgoing is not started till today. These fellows are so quick in receiving the money but then dont ask for the services because even their data base recognizes only the money and not the services!!!

Before Delhi, at Aligarh, I used Airtel number. There, whenever we faced any problem, we consulted with customer care executive, who could be accessed by dialing 123-9. But now, I don't know how to talk directly to the cc executive. If you dial 121 in Delhi, only computerized voices will eat your time and patience out!!!

Card blocked after 8 months
I've bought Airtel Pre-paid card(9892895408) 8 months back at our office from a airtel agent or employee? namely Mr Kuldeeep that time we bought more than 10 card for other college also, from 5th Jan'07 my incoming and outgoing calls blocked by Airtel, when i inquired about blocking at costumer care they said they need to verify my SIM number which i'd changed few days ago, and asked me to go any Airtel gallery i went to Vashi gallery and they verified my SIM number and told me that my connection will be started within 1/2 hour but connection not work then i call CC(121) and this time CC rep. told me that i have to go one more time to vashi gallery and sort out the problem. Today when i was at gallery a lady at counter no 3 told me that my card blocked by person namely DD and told that i have to call a person Nilesh and given his number when i called Nilesh from gallery his tone was very rough and asking me that where i got this card and asking me about the receipt of the cash and my documents (which i given to mr Kuldeep) i told to Nilesh that in our department no one is got receipt against the cash but he is insisting that i have to pay the card amount(Rs.600) and the documents again.

My question to sir that Airtel given such type of authority to any person? I have already given all documents 2 times once to Mr kuldeep and 2nd time at the your Vashi Gallery.

False extra connection
I was always very happy with airtel customer care till the time a problem of extra connection came on my phone. I have mobile No. 9818263218. With Nov bill I have been shown having taken an add on connection for Mr. Manish Kumar. tele no. 9910522779. Rs 399.56 have been charged on my bill as an addon connection. I gave the first complaint on 20th Dec. Thereafter I have been regularly speaking to your cust. care. (Sameera, Inderjeet, Neha, Sita, Sandeep, Jaspreet, Karan, Sita and finally Neha).Everytime I have to repeat the same story that I have not asked for an AddOn connection. I dont know Mr Manish Kumar. I have already paid the bill because it is through ECS. And that I want disconnection of that no. and refund of the money I have paid.

Ms Sita had also consented to give me extra talktime but unable to refund my money. Now on 10th. Ms Neha tells me that I have to go to Okhla to personally sort out the problem.

Why should I do the running around when the mistake has been made by your employee. She told me that I can make a complaint to any Airtel centre or send a email and you should be able to refund my money.

Deduction of amount Rs.700 for anonymous message from 64611015
My Mobile Number : 9994326369. I have GPRS activated in my mobile and I have been using this for past 6 months. By 1st of this month I have recharged for Rs.1200 for talk time of 970 approx and 6 months validity. On 19th December 2006 night by 10 PM when I dialed *123# I got my account balance of around 800 rupees. Then after some hours my mobile started receiving messages from “64611015” and the message are as follows.

Message from “64611015”:

“Thanks for using Airtel Live!Featuring Christmas Celebrations,New Year Zone,Bollywood Elections, Cricket Zone and salaam-E-Ishq all on Airtel Live“

I didn’t notice that my amount is getting deducted when I received this message. This message is like a normal message as of how I receive message from my friends. So I just read and deleted that message. Then I started getting this message more frequently and I got around 10 messages approx.

Next day afternoon when I dialed *123#, I happened to see around 130 Rupees got deducted from my balance and that was about 678 Rs. Approx.]
I have Called Customer Care on 20th December 2006 afternoon.

When I enquired about my amount deduction I got response like I have downloaded some thing that’s why I got that amount deducted from my account.

But actually I got only messages in bulk but I dint receive or I dint find any option to download also. So how can I download that. I explained the same to customer care people. Then she said like she will be informing me after she checks within 34 hours.

Then Patiently I called Customer care again on 21st December 2006 night.

When I explained him the same and got a cool response he just simply told me “because you downloaded many things that happened I again started explaining what has happened” I again told him it was like a plain message and I just opened it. But still he keeps irritating me with those same words. I got bugged and just cut the phone.

22nd December 2006 Afternoon again my mobile started receiving that message from the same number by 2 pm. When I received 1 message I was worried and I checked for the balance it was around Rs.668 approx. Quite after some time I started more messaged I dint use my mobile and I was busy with my work. I checked for the message may be after a min that was from the same number and again I checked for the balance I saw it was Rs.580 approx. Then I got fed up.

I dialed 121 and called customer care I explained what ever had happened but again she repeated those familiar words and one more word added that is message is from yahoo and also the following word.

“because you downloaded many things that happened”

Then after explaining to her she said she will connect me to PL mean while connection got cut.


I dialed *123# and really got angry and frustrated and I lost my temper. To my very disappointment my balance had come down to Rs. 200 approx.


I called customer care again when I spoke to customer care chief executive he just repeated the same as other did. I felt no point in talking to them and I asked for the Airtel show room to him at Coimbatore. He at least got a courtesy to give me the address. Then on hearing my friend’s advice I just switched of my mobile.

I went to Airtel office when I switched on my mobile and I showed them the message what I got. And how many messages I got. At that time when I was speaking to the customer care people I got the around 36 messages and my account came down to 128 exactly.

I gave them the return complaint. But I still thought of mailing you.

I thing by tomorrow my account balance will be down to 0 to even goes on in-100 and so on.

I really appreciate even now if you refund my money back as soon as possible. I am ready to bring my mobile and show you the proof. And even you can cross check the time when I was speaking to the customer care people my amount got deducted. Now I have around 34 unread messages exactly like normal messages.

And Airtel Live got activated without my knowledge. Now seriously I lost hope on Airtel and their services offered and I guess everything is out of control.

Problem with registered phone number
Hi, since 31st Dec '06 till date(4th Jan ' 07) I am facing difficulty to make a call to India with my both registered phone numbers. I can make call with unregistered number.After registering my both the residence as well as mobile number I couldn't make a single call. All the time after dialing 1-877-247-4047 number I am getting the voice message as " Welcome to Airtel, Sorry your call can't be connected at the moment, pls. try again later" and after that line is getting disconnected.
I have opened near about 10 problem tickets. Some tickets have been closed without resolving the problem. After discussion with customer representative each time I used to give a call to airtel toll free no. and they got the same voice message and reopened a new ticket each time.
Also every time all the representative and floor supervisor gave the same answer "Sorry this time your problem will resolve within 1 hr. Wait for some more time. Take my word"

Last 2 days I made a request to unregistered my residence number but still there is no result.How much can I wait for the same.

This is a really ridiculous.
How come without resolving problem tickets will be closing .
Neither I got a single email from Airtel nor a testing call saying that problem has been resolved.

Scam - India call
Airtel recently launched a 'Airtel call home' feature in the US. This is a scam. If you sign up for the service, you end up paying US$ and then never get any service. I have tried to use the service for the past 4 weeks and till date have not been able to connect to India. Their customer service is the worst in the world, no live being answers the phone, there is no proper customer complaint tracking system. If you send emails to customer service, they send back standard messages asking to call customer service....which never answers phone calls.

Please don't fall for this scam. Do not use this service. These folks are big time con artists.

Worst service provider
I was so excited that a company which has a good name is started the service of calling cards to India with a decent rate. Except to tell that this rate is good:

1. When i try to dial the 1 877 247 4047 number, this never gets connected the first time for me in my experience. I shall need to dial this for 3-5 times and sometimes i don't even get this.

2. Customer service no that they have given 1 877 247 5150, i don't think this exists.

3. I am not able to access the site with the user id and password given by them

Request everyone not even think about getting this service. I feel that my money that i have used to purchase this card is gone.
