Billing
My credit card was debited in the sum of $239.40 by AOL. I called the company and was advised that this was for the use of AOL. I asked for a bill and was told to go to AOL Billing. I could not find any reference to any $ amount. All I saw was a statement stating that I was current. I asked for a paper bill and was advised that this was not possible. I asked for a description of the bill they could not direct me to anything with an amount leave alone a description.

I suspect that a lot of subscribers are paying for a service that AOL does not want to identify. From what I have uncovered all AOL services can be had for free but AOL wants to obfuscate the issue for gullibles like me.

We talk about Corruption in Afghanistan while our stalwarts here go to Church on Sunday draft their Ethics Memoranda for their employees on Monday and then spend the rest of the week figuring how to screw us all.

The Consumer Boards are staffed by SEC Madoff type investigators on a permanent coffee break.

So switch to G mail and get a new credit card so the vultures stop feeding off it's membership gullibles.

I am a CPA and this is what I uncovered I can only imagine how many millions are being fleeced.

The solution to the problem is that AOL should provide advance notice annually to their customers and request approval prior to debiting their Credit Cards.

The State investigators should follow up with customers who have been billed by AOL to determine if they have been taken advantage. Then 60 Minutes should run a segment on the thieves.

false charges
i looked on my credit card statement and saw that there was a false charge from AOL.In order even to retrive my money i have to wait 7 to 10 business days to get it taken care of and to sign something to retrieve my own money back.it took them all of a minute to take money off card but now 7 to 10 business days to retrive whats rightfully mine.i never had account and use my local cable station for my internet.

unwarranted charge
My name is James P. Haas - my e-mail address is [email protected]
On Saturday August 30, 2010, I suddenly lost all the e-mails I had in my inbox. I got in touch with aol and was referred to LORY, with whom I had a typewritten exchange. LORY stated: "I apologize but during a routine maintenance process with our mail system, some members' accounts showed that older emails disappeared. Please be assured that these emails were not lost and that the Mail Team is working diligently to restore these emails to your mailbox soon." All the emails were recovered within two or three days, but I find a charge of $48.00 in my last credit card statement (Ref.: 3GF45*00 - Justanswer *Tech Sprt). I think the charge is unwarranted since I am not in the least responsible for the mishap.

billed for service I never ordered
I have become very regimented in checking my bank statements every couple of months after several issues like this, it's too bad we have to take our time to fix the mistakes and theivery of others. Last month I found this AOL charge for services I never ordered since I haven't been with them for almost 10 years. Calling them they informed me they will send an affidavit for me to fill out, and if they approve it then they will remove the charge. I had to take my time to call them, time to contact my bank, fill out their stupid form and wait even though when I called they could not find any info under my name, address, phone, or SSI#. I have a theory that they are flagging certain people as being fair game because they are elderly, sick, or disabled. Problem is they didn't take into consideration that because some people have broken bodies this does not mean their minds are broken too. At this time I have so many issues such as this it tends to get to be overwhelming, but I'll get through it with persistance. I have an elderly frend this is happening to but even though he knows the charges are wrong, he pays them anyway just to be rid of it. If I ever get caught up I'll start to tackle his, so people please DO NOT PAY and try to hang in there for the duration of the fight. I am getting over from being homebound a year and I am waiting for the last health issues to be gone so I can get out into the world again and this makes me wonder- did I find my calling, do we need a consumers group where people can learn to fight this fraud? This column sure helps.

E-mail service
After paying AOL for over 15 years last night our service was canceled without warning. In addition two weeks ago my computer was infected with a McAfee virus- McAfee also provided to us by AOL. Had to deleted McAFee and replace with Micro Trend to rid virus. Had to delete the over 600 returned unknown address messages . I called AOL to notify them of this- Hours of phone calls to tell them that we did nothing wrong have served no purpose. We are both in the technical field and do work from home and access to our account is imperative, yet we have been punished with no prior notice. I even sent the AOL "Community Action Team" a letter as they asked and was told this morning by a technician that "There is no one at AOL that can reactivate your account" ... wow. Wonderful customer service. Thanks AOL for treating us like criminals. I have finally reached a voice mail for TIm Armstrong, CEO of AOL- Wow there are no live people there.

Simply awful
Any other internet company requires you to register the id number on your modem. From t here you can either choose to use their browser or download AOL or Yahoo, etc.

I have been harassed continuously by 4 AOL members. I fear for my life. One of them passed along my name and personal information. Another did a public records search and is broadcasting my personal information, including phone numbers in a public chatroom.

AOL does NOTHING. They may terminate the individual's account, but these psychos can install another AOL account in a number of minutes.. and its ANONYMOUS.

Whereas if you have a way of tracking these indiduals by the IP identification number on their modem, or phone number if they are using dial up service. THESE PSYCHOS WILL NEVER-EVER BE ABLE TO USE AOL AGAIN FROM THAT COMPUTER.

THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THESE PREDITORS. PREVENTATIVE, DEFENSIVE TECHNIQUES SUCH AS THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP CHILD PREDITORS, SEXUAL PREDITORS, PSYCHOLOGICAL PREDITORS-WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL THEM.

I did go to the police, because I was getting phone calls in the middle of the night. Other than suggesting I change my phone number there is no other way to stop it.

My address is out there in cyber land. I know who trafficked the information, but NOTHING can be done about it.

LETS START A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AND PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE!

poor customer service
If you are fed up with the piss poor customer service of AOL go to the 'Federal trade Commission' website and file a formal complaint. Law Enforcement agencies and Better Business bureaus throughout the United States has access to this program as well as the Security and Exchange Commission and if enough complaints are filed, the parent company will either take notice and do changes or just dissolve this piss poor company

piss poor attitude
AOL has the most piss poor service anywhere. Overnight they just decide to cancel my access and account without notification or reason.. Then when I try to contact their so called customer service it was like talking to a clown in a circus--they had more excuses they Reagan had jelly beans. I would not recommend AOL what any reason. I hope and pray they go belly up permanently

Outraged
Black Voices on AOL is not a choice AOL has given it's members and I am outraged. AOL give us all an option.
