Apartment 3 rue Bouchardon: It’s in a bad part of Paris in a run-down building with an ancient elevator whose door doesn’t work properly. Frankly we preferred using the stairs. The apartment itself is OK, but from the photo with the two antique chairs, we imagined something much nicer. The rest of the apartment is just modern cheap crap. The shower drain was blocked – you finish your shower in water up to your ankles. ApartmentParis promised to fix but didn’t do anything about it. There doesn’t seem to be any noise insulation either. When the people below watch TV it’s as if they were in our apartment’s living room (just great if you want to get to bed early because of jet lag). When the people above walk around, it’s incredibly loud, intrusive and damned annoying. I don’t think in either case they were being particularly noisy – you just hear everything in the building – people talking, radios, children playing. We had to get up early to catch our plane and were trying to be quiet, but at 6:30 am the lady downstairs came up in her dressing gown to inform us we had woken her up. Oh yes, and an entire hotel two doors down is being renovated and the jack-hammers start up at 8 am. An address to avoid.
