No DSL
I have at&t as my telephone provider. Myrecent phone bill came in an envelope with an ad pushing their High Speed DSL Internet. My complaint: I live in a rural arrea in North Carolina where at&t could give a hoot less about their customers. I have tried several times to get their High Speed DSL Internet but to no avail. "Its not available to my phone number. This has gone on for years, even when it wasw Bell South. My neighbor, of whom we get water out of the same well, was contacted by at&t and offered High Speed DSL Internet without him asking for it. I pay the Al Gore Internet tax each month on my phone bill, another ripoff, for what? Just where is this money going? Not to help us in the rural area of North Carolina get High Speed DSL Internet as it should. I hate dial up even with an accelerator. It SUCKS just like at&t. If there are any High Speed DSL Internet providers out there with phone service please let me know as I have had it with at&t.

Potential Internal Fraud
A few days ago, my cellular phone completely dies on me . I use my cell phone alot ofr business and am not the type of person who looks for all the bells and whistles on my phone. i hold onto my phones far longer than mot people do. Well I finally decided to get an i phone. I figured that since I am over the obligation on my contract, it would be very easy to walk into a MAC store and sign up for a phone. Well as it turns out, I was told that I would not be eligible for an upgrade. The apple store attendant, who was extremely helpful and courteous, reffed me to AT&T's customer service department. The gentleman on the other line informed me that I already had an iphone. Shocked, I reiterated to him that I had the same Nokia model that I started my contract with. He insisted that I had taken out an I phone for my son in July. At first, I chuckled considering that I have no children, am single and according to him, had a son with a completely different last name than mine. Finally taking me serious, customer service investigated further. In the mean time, I was left with no working phone, and the inability to make calls from my phone while an investigation took place. I did my own research and it turns out, I was billed in excess of 200 dollars during a 3 month period. As I travel alot out of the country, I simply assumed that these were roaming charges and only glanced over my bill. In reality, my roaming fees were minimal compared to the activation, taxes and media fees I incurred during this time. I am set up for paperless statement and was a perfect victim. For those of you who have not picked up on the scam yet, let me warn you that this has to be an internal issue. Someone gave a discount to their friends/relatives using my account information. Obviously the other person is an At&T user as they have to be to use the I phone. They obviously used their own sim card and I was left with the phone expense, the activation and media usage fee. I guess someone at AT&T figured that since my plan was up and I was still using the same phone, I probably was going to switch to another provider. I researched all he calls on my bill and they are all mine. Only the data usage charges are not mine. They used my info to "hook" someone else up. I worked in fraud investigations for 7 years and even though I am speculating at this time, its evident that what happened here was identity theft from within AT&T. Even the Customer Service person mentioned that this was done at one of their company stores. I will be pressing charges and am wondering if anyone else was affected in a similar manner. Word if advise to all, CHECK your statements carefully. To their credit, Customer Service was helpful. I like AT&T but fear that this incident will forever sour me against them.

Worst Service in the United States
I have been with sucky AT&T for a year. Over that year I have had my DSL or my phone service or both interrupted 4 to 6 times. Each time I call disgusting AT&T I have to waste 10 minutes of my time telling an automated computer voice my troubles. Then when a human FINALLY comes on the phone I have to REPEAT all my troubles to the human.

Why do I have to do that twice? No one can tell me. I have asked the humans why I have to repeat myself. They either don't know or are not allowed to speak badly about their vile employer.

Any company that cannot keep its phones running in sunny L.A., where we have nothing in weather other than drizzle, should be fired. I plan to search for a new phone and DSL provider as soon as I get time.

My warning to you: DO NOT CHOOSE THEM AS YOUR DSL OR PHONE SERVICE IF YOU CAN POSSIBLY AVOID THEM.

Do whatever they want
September 2005 I notified At & T to forward my bills to an Elk Grove address effective January 2006. Until January my mail was forwarded to a temporary residential location. Effective January 2006 I received my residential phone bill for a 2nd home in the Tahoe area. Sometime in January of 2007 or possibly December 2006 the bill for that phone did not come to the Elk Grove Address.

I called AT & T on March 5 and went over the problem and was assured that the address would be corrected to Elk Grove and they provided no reason as to why it had stopped coming to the Elk Grove address.

April 28 my husband was at our 2nd home and discovered that the At & T bill for that phone was being sent to the Tahoe address. It appears that the young lady on March 5 never entered an order to change the billing address. In March I paid a forty dollar reconnect fee. My history of payment on this account is excellent. I felt that it was easier to reconnect an pay the fee, than argue who was at fault.
April 30 I spoke with a Tello in customer service and we reviewed the entire time line of events dating back to September of 05. A manager was to follow up within 24 hours and I gave my cell phone as a contact number.

I followed up today, May 7, and now I am told that I will have to pay a $70 deposit and a $19 re-connect fee. I explained that I was told these charges would be waived. The billing department transferred me to a John who confirmed that the deposit and re-connect fee would be waived and could not explain the problems I had encountered with the billing address.

Back to billing department and I am told that no one can waive those fees and deposit and they have no way to transfer me back to John or Tello. I am also told that the billing department service people do not have a supervisor that I could be transferred too.

I have spent hours trying to resolve this situation and since 2005 I took the appropriate steps to ensure my billing would reach me.

I have 3 cell phone accounts with AT&T and have been with them for over 7 years.

My conclusion is that AT&T is not customer service oriented and will not follow through with commitments to credit a customer when the error it theirs.

Awful service
Contact with AT&T a few years back resulted in our assuming an "all-in-one" telephone account that covered three (3) telephones (one business, one personal and one a dedicated fax line). We paid the statements with two (2) checks, one business account and one personal. On one occasion AT&T lost the personal check and we had to replace it with a new (the original cost us for a stop-payment).

Then we were contacted by the 'new' AT&T and advised they could save us money by changing the account. Done. The final bill from the 'old' AT&T arrived. We paid it with the usual two checks. We got a closing bill for $27.66. We called and advised the processing office that the bill had been paid in full. They said we had to prove that, so we went to the bank and got the cancelled checks, filled out the AT&T forms and were advised they would launch an investigation. It has been 5+ months and we are still receiving collection letters and threats of disconnect and now one from a collection agency (independent).

We were provided with claim numbers and told that a resolution letter would arrive soon -- when? We have a superior credit rating as we have always paid both our personal and business invoices in a timely manner. What this company is doing is jeopardizing our credit and trying our patience.

Scam charges
I called the AT&T number listed on the phone guide, to get a new service. I asked the answering Operator for the basic service, and she started to give me the run around, giving all kind of prices and services. I insisted on the most basic service, but it seemed like she wouldn't hear. She wanted to push a better deal; a better slide for herself.
I did telemarketing some time ago, and I left because some people from south america filled the room, specialy argentinians, breaking alll the rules, even the most basic principles.

This time, this girl, wanted push further than the basic service; whatever I signed, this story goes about how, from an advertised rate of $12.94 on the internet, they wouldn't just turned into a $13.56, but still added some federal charges that finnaly ended on $21.37?

Scam artists
I have received a Collection Notice, from GC Services and from AT&T Advertising & Publishing.

They started a yellow page ad with us and after one month into the ad they accidentally cancelled our forwarding phone number which was the yellow page phone number. We had to do a forwarding number because we relocated. So the yellow page ad no longer worked because AGAIN they accidentally cancelled the number. By the time we found out about it they said the number could not be reused. So, the ad was useless.

They said the mistake was their fault, NOT ours. So the bill would be reversed. and we would not be responsible for it. this was when the bill was about $2300.00. I ask them not to send anymore notices and to contact the collection agency, they said they would.

6/10/08
I now am receiving bills from just At&t Advertising, now the bill went from about $3000.00 to $ 4000.00.
7/1/08
The bill now has jumped from $4, 069.83 to $8, 226.77. How is this possible that the bill has DOUBLED in ONE MONTH when I haven’t had advertising since January of ’07? Amazing!

I looked on the $8K bill and it says I have advertising with them on a phone number that does not exist. I would love your help. We are a very small self employed person and can not afford to pay a bill that dose no good for us.

Awful, awful, awful
I signed up with AT & T and, since they combined their service for telephone, internet and Long Distance, wireless, billing got very complicated. During the solving on billing issues, I was mislead and tricked to go into contract with an unknown Long Distance Carrier - SILV Communications. They bill through AT & T by USBI.

MY telephone bill per month starting Feb 09 to Jun 09 ranging from $162.74 to $913.49. I spoke with more than 10 agents in regards to straighening out my telephone bill, and I have to call them every month for adjustment, my adjustment can highest adjustment was $636.26.

I felt very painful to have to dealing with telephone mis charge every month.

Scam artists
I recently got back from college, and during my time there, my credit was nearly ruined, and I was charged 300 dollars, that I didn't have, because AT&T refused to run off my phone service.

I contacted the company to get a phone line at the dorms I was staying at, so I could stay in contact with my parents. After the semester was almost over, and with a month left in the semester, my phone mysteriously stops working. After MANY attempts to call the company and figure out what was going on, I finally got fed up and disconnected my phone, and go home.

Fast forward 6 months later, we receive a bill in the mail (at my parents house) for 300 dollars from at&t. Aggravated, we call the phone company, only to find out they reconnected the phone WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. When we ask them to disconnect it again, and wave these fees, considering I didn't even live there anymore, they start trying to bribe us to stay by saying they could get us a 200 dollar federal voucher if we stayed. Immediately, the red flag for scam went up, and we declined.

AT&T in Carthage, TX is ripping off the government to try to keep customers from disconnecting! AND reconnecting service after people have been disconnected without the person's permission!
