ATT Reviews

ATT failed to properly connect our services and claims it will take several more days
We moved our office about five blocks in August to a smaller space and had our AT&T service transferred -- same numbers, Internet service, etc.

Last week I received our first phone bill in the amount of $900 for three business lines and one DSL line.

I called the billing office on 9/28 to resolve the matter and learned that they set up multiple DSL lines and made errors to the voice mail service, etc.

Upon "resolving" the matter, they disconnected the DSL line that hosts our Internet, wireless printers, wireless network, outlook boxes, etc. We were shut down as of this morning 9/30.

I spent 2 hours and 47 minutes on the phone this morning with various AT& T departments and representatives only to learn that because it takes 24-48 hours for one department to communicate with another I can't even order the service back until Monday, 10/4, and then it could take up to three days to get a technician to the office to restore all the settings.

This means AT&T will put a small business out of business for five business days -- and because of that, probably close our doors all together.

In addition to this latest problem, when the move took place, we were down for 10 business days due to phone lines, Internet, fax, and voicemail service all being set up incorrectly multiple times.

If I am not up and running for five business days, I will lose $11, 000 in billable time. In addition, I'm losing billable time by consultants who can't work out of my office. The initial set-up issues cost me a retained client and $28, 500 in lost income over the next 12 months.

CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER
I just moved into a tax credit apartment that forces their residence to use ATT. I am a full time student, wife, employee, and mother. I have been trying to get service since Friday and I can't seem to find a single competant representative to process my order. I am writing my local tv and newspaper stations as wel. I do not understand how people with fully functional brains are seeking work in Texas, yet the dummies are working (push button-agh-ooo-lights).

NO Connection
I really wonder how ATT can get away with those commercials saying they have coverage for over 96% of Americans or whatever they said in it. I dont live in the middle of nowhere, I live in downtown Boston and getting a signal for more than about three minutes is impossible. If you go into a building, no matter what type of building it may be there is no connection, no connection for 3G or data connection and its the same when you walk outside. I feel like I have to walk around with a twelve foot antennae to get any connection from this company. Im not sure if it is like this in any other city but if you are an ATT customer in the boston area, forget about it, your phone will be a useless device

Lied about data plan
I called AT&T and asked to add tethering to my phone, but made sure before making any additions, that I would not lose my unlimited data plan. I was assured that I wouldn't and my account was noted. One week later when I canceled the tethering (because it stinks), I was told that I could not have my unlimited plan back. After numerous phone calls, I have decided to cancel my account, after 10 years of service. Very disappointing experience. Their loss. Too many other companies out there to stress over AT&T's poor customer service. They read over my account notes and still would not give me my unlimited plan back. I have 4 phones on my account and pay my bill on line before I even receive it in the mail.

I've been on hold for 1 hour and 20 min
I've been on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes now (and counting) trying to get my bill fixed for bogus wireless charges that we didn't even incur.

What a bunch of crap!

Hey, AT&T - I have nothing better to do but complain to any and all possible places on the Internet while I wait for your people to come to the phone. There can't be that many customers needing help right now (and for that long). Your employees are probably taking a dinner break and have put their phones on DND!

So sick of this crap, I'm ready to disconnect ALL my services !!!

Awful Customer Service/Drop DSL
I have had problems with my phones and DSL for over three years. I have called and they stated problems were on the inside, then the problems were on the outside. I have been dropping this week more than ever. Most likely because I have been on the internet taking a class which has to stream. I have been paying for 6m, but I have had between 1.9-3.8 on the good days download speed. I have contacted ATT and they state they will have someone out to my house and repair the items according, but never fulfill their obligation. ATT (customer reps) just keep stringing people along instead of doing whatever is necessary to repair the items. I have complained to the Public Service Commission in my state. If you really want to make the commissions board aware of what ATT has been doing to you, Call them. The more we all get together to make them do what they are charging us, hopefully the better our service will be. All we ask for ATT for them to do is honor what they say. If I could have cable, I would, unfortunately my area will not support cable.

Android 2.2. update for Samsung Captivate
If anyone here has a ATT Samsung Captivate, you should know that yesterday 2/24/11 ATT put out info, telling customers to go to a Samsung website to download the new Android 2.2 platform.
Be advised if you have a computer with Windows7, 64 bit a common computer software, on all Windows computers sold in the last year or so, you will be unable to download the platform to your phone. I have had several conversations with ATT and Samsung about this issue. It was even suggested to me, that i should find a friend with a Win7, Vista, or XP computer with a 32 bit system so i could download the update. I had to laugh at that technical support in this day and age.
Someone or lots of people are behind the 8 ball in this situation, in my opinion. Type this in your search engine and you will find the instructions per ATT for the download. Being a better then intermediate computer user, i don't even understand step 3 of the download instructions. I might be missing a point, but is just doesn't make sense to me.
So before you spend hours of frustration trying to update your phone, and getting agrivated more with every call and email to ATT and Samsung, you might check your bit platform on Windows. I have had many years of Att affiliated service or direct service for mobile phone, but this is a bad first experience for me.
Paste this to search engine and you will find the instructions i received from ATT.
How Do I Update The Software On My AT&T SGH-i897 (Captivate) Phone To Android 2.2 (Froyo) Through Kies Mini For PC?
Offical ATT Stores do not even know how to do it yet, in my area, anyhow.

Good Luck

"Old Side" Billing
I just got off the phone with ATT "Customer Service" agent, Kelly, because I keep getting odd billing from an account that LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE MY REGULAR ATT BILL, but is always for less than 10 dollars and is what Kelly termed an "Old Side" Bill sent to me NOT BY ATT but by another unnamed company. She says she'll "fix it" but I doubt it. We'll just keep receiving these bills - two a month - until we die, and if we don't pay them - what? We'll be penalized for bad credit and maybe a law suit. ATT!! Stay away from that company. They are robbing millions of their long-time faithful customers who are living on Social Security. Need proof? I've got it.

U-Verse
It's been 3 weeks since the original order was placed to have my number ported over from another carrier. AT&T, through their lack of communication, has caused delay after delay.

First, they were missing some information, that I found out about after the initial port date when I called to find out why the order wasn't complete. AT&T rewrote the order for 10 days later. Come that day, the order still wasn't complete.

After several phone calls, I spoke with a rep who said there was an error with the order and that it'd have to be rewritten again, for another 10 days in the future. When I mentioned I'd already gone through that and if there's an error now, there'll probably be an error then she was able to get someone to listen and told me the error was fixed and everything should be up in 2-3 hours.

It wasn't. I called back that night and was told by support that everything looked good and should be up by 10 pm. It wasn't.

The next morning I called and got tier 2 support who told me that everything looked good and that they'd have to reboot my router. They did, that disconnected my call and they never bothered to call back.

I called back in the evening, got tier 2 and they said that with that error, there's no way they can port the number until the error is cleared, which will be in 24-48 hours and then I'd have to wait another 5-7 days for the number to be ported. He tried to connect me with order management, sat on hold for 20 minutes at which time he came back and said the office was closed and I'd have to call them the next day.

Called the next day and order management said they could do nothing until the order was cleared and then they'd get the order rewritten and I'm looking at another 10 days for the number to be ported. I asked why I can go to a cell phone vendor and get my number ported over in 20 minutes and with AT&T it takes a month. They had no answer. There are too many departments that touch an order and that causes mess-ups. I'm pissed.

Unathourized charges to my credit card
Purchased a pre-pay cell phone online through AT&T charges we're $111.00 for phone and a pre pay minutes card.

Prior to giving my credit card info I reviewed all charges and athourized AT&T to charge my account for the $111.00. When checking the charges online through the bank the charges were $226.00!Called costumer service who told me that the charges we're a pre-authourization and they would be refunded as soon as the phone was shipped. Now 5 days later they have not only not refunded these charges but went ahead and charged me an additional $26.50!

I have recieved the phone and card and called them this morning and tried to figure out why the charges we're not refunded they informed me that "it's the banks responsability to release the pending charges on the account...we can't do anything for you!"

Are you kidding me? I never authourized them to charge my account almost triple the amount! They said this was how they charged for online purchases...ther was nothing in any of the "terms of service" ect. that informed me of these additional charges.

It seems to me that when a company charges you almost triple the amount you've authourized they are commiting a crime! RIGHT?

Not to mention they kept me on hold for over an hour transferring me to 7 different people and we're rude to boot!
