Mr. Augustine claimed to be able to level a small section of my yard for installation of an 18' round swimming pool. He charged me $450 for 2 hours of work and assured me that he had done this for years and that the "excavated" section was completely level and the pool could be installed. Only upon the arrival of our pool installer the following week did I learn that another 12" of soil had to be excavated at an additional cost of $250. Mr. Augustine promised to return to complete the remainder of the excavation, but never showed up after numerous phone attempts. Once finally reached by phone he hung up on me when I tried to commit to a day when he could return to complete the job. I had also asked for a partial refund (1/2), as I now had to pay yet another contractor, but he refused. I had to hire another very reputable contractor who completed the excavation but at an additional cost. I have now filed a civil complaint against Paul Augustine which he evaded. A constable had to track him down (on a Sunday) for delivery of the civil complaint. I do not believe that he is an experienced contractor at all and further believe him to be a dishonest and unreputable individual that I would not recommend hiring. I am now considering further charges against Paul Augustine and am filing complaints with every trade association and consumer advocacy group that my attorney recommends..
