Bank of America Reviews

overdraft charges
I had a small account that was not being used along with a debit card. I had a savings account and a main checking account. The small account apparently had some charges that were not authorized and I kept a minimum amount of funds in that account. All of a sudden I get these outrageous overdraft charges and contacted the bank which is directly accross the street from me. Well when I spoke with the lady there she contacted a 1 888 717 3999 number and allowed me to speak with a representative fromt he customer solution department. She went ahead and took the information and was to file a claim to resolve the issues of the overdrafts and charges which were wrongfully charged to that account.
Instead there was no claim filed and no paperwork came to me to sign so instead they drained my savings account and caused my main checking and savings to become charged over a thousand dollars and are continuing to charge my account because I have automatic deposit from my V.A. pay. Instead they are continuing to charge my account all because the claim was ignored and after calling again I spoke with a lady named Gracie and found that the claim I filed with her was dismissed and after calling again and speaking to another person. He was the one to confirm that my claim had been dismissed just like that. He then reactivated the claim and gave them my name and address so that they could send the paperwork to be signed to follow up on this he told me that they can only file a claim for the past 60 days and no further. When I brought up the previous claims he insisted that only 60 days can be claimed.
Now I received the paperwork with the wrong name and the almost partially correct address that luckly the postman asked me if this was mine while waiting for the mail.
Here they have left me without living funds and am not able to make my V.A. appointments and unable to buy groceries or pay my bills. I have no idea how to handle this and when I go to the bank to speak with them, it's like I am wasting their time and their money. Looks like they can turn on you like a poisonous snake without help.
I figure the only way to stop this is not to bank with them at all. Once I looked on the internet and found hundreds and hundreds of complaints against Bank of America I felt so stupid in even dealing with them. It's a real shame that after being with this bank for numerous years they decided it was an easy way for them to make money.

Overcharged
I made certain charges on my debit card on one day that posted immediately to my account (could see them online) that brought my balance to under $100. The following day a large check hits my account which should have resulted in a single overdraft fee. Instead, BOA un-posted three charges that had posted agains the account the previous day, applied the check amount, then re-posted the charges which resulted in four overdraft fees instead of the one.

Useless people
I went to deposit my paycheck on friday @ noon. They said I could only have access to $100 until tomorrow. This irritated me but I let it go. The next the day the money wasn't there so I called them. They said that due to my lack of deposits with them, they were going to hold my paycheck for 5 days. I am a new customer with them. I told them I needed the money because I had 3 young children and need to buy food. They didn't care. I could see their point if it was a personal check, but it was my paycheck, from a local business. What I support my family on. I told them that I would be canceling my acct as soon as I can get my direct deposit that I had just set up change over to a different bank. I also told them I would tell everyone I know and tell the public in every way possible not to use their bank and if they were, to cancel. The associate I spoke to refused to let me speak to a supervisor. They said in their huge booklet they sent me with it states in their they could hold anyone's money at their discretion. Don't ever use this bank. They are heartless, money grubbing, useless people that waste the oxygen that God gave them.

Scam charges
After four months and countless phone calls and emails to cancel an unauthorized charge; Bank of America still keeps mistakenly drafting $15 dollars from my business account!

It started out of the blue in April I notice a strange charge on my account for “Online Business Suite Account Management Services”, a charge I did not authorize. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with BOA and finally got a representative to remove the charge and then they had the gall to try and sell me more services I didn’t want. They said the will remove the unauthorized subscription to the “Online Business Suite Account Management Services” and credit my account for the $15. They said I will not be charged for it in the future. The next month (May) rolled around and it happened again! Same thing, spent an hour plus sending emails and calling just to get them to remove this charge and service from my account. June came, same thing again, this time I demanded through emails that they get this problem in front of a manager, because I didn’t want to have this happen every month. I sent about 8 emails total, each time they sent a form letter back and each time I asked if they even read the emails. Every reply keep saying they credited me for the $15 charge and that we were removed from that service. Each time I said this keeps happening and I don’t want to keep going through this, that this was the 3rd month in a row and it keeps happening and to please explain how they will make sure this does not happen again and to get this email to a manager. It was to deaf ears! It happened again this month of July!

I’m so feed up with this and Bank of America could care less! It seems like a scam! Automatically enrolling someone over and over again as if they hope unaware victims will let it slide so Bank of America can make some extra money! I know first hand and my friends do to, how Bank of America is so greedy. BOA orders the largest to the smallest charges on an account when an overdraft happens with in the same day so BOA unfairly makes a lot more money on fees. My friend was only around $10 short one day, but since BOA unfairly stacks the cards against their customers he was charged $175 for 5 overdrafts! If they ordered it from the smallest charge to the largest only the largest charge would have been over-drafted and he would only have had one single $35 fee! I won’t even get started to BOA’s “keep the change” scam like program. It’s the greed of large financial corporations that has gotten this world into this huge financial crisis. When are they going to learn that it’s unhealthy to treat their customers the way they do? Only when large corporations don’t have the power of a monopoly and we have more choices! The customers and citizens loose while the CEOs win! Too big to fail? NO, too big fails!

They steal your money
we went to make a cash deposit of $1200 and after we put our money in the machine it shut down and said temporarily out of service. so we of course freaked out and went in the bank and they said they posted a credit for the amount to our account and would have us a new debit card issued because the machine ate our card. well it has been over a month and we still dont have a card and we got a letter from BOA stating that they never found any record of the deposit or the cash and somehow the survailance cameras were misteriously not on at that time and the card was never recovered. we have filed several complaints and are going to have to hire a lawyer! BOA SUCKS and they are theieves. you should be able to trust your bank with your cash!

robert sweeden/credit manager
I called bank of america to ask why my monthly payments keep going up. I have never been late, always paid before bill is due, They gave me 3 different reasons transferring me to perso to person, I finally ended up witn Robert Sweeden credit mamager who told me in order for me to get a rate I would have to make double agressive payments, Keep in mind I have never been late, Making double payments is not legal, if they continue to increase my payments i will have to go to a legal system to stop them, C, toles fort washington maryland

Terrible bank
I discovered that when Bank of America sends out a payment from your Bill Pay on-line payment facility through a hard check they debt your account when the check is issued not when it is cashed by the recipient. I discovered this when one of my note holders sent back two checks issued through Bill Pay by BOA. In essence, BOA debits your account when the check is cut and then has use of your funds, in their account, until the check clears. This is reverse check kiting. The check states that the funds will not be available if the check is not cashed in 90 day’s; however, it is unlikely that the funds will be re-deposited in your account anytime soon thereafter or at all unless you notify BOA; presupposing you have knowledge of the discrepancy.

When you pay a bill on-line through Bill Pay, you assume that the Bank will debit your account when the check clears this is not the case. BOA employees told me they wait five days after the check is issued from BOA before they debit your account, however, the funds were disbursed from my account the same day they issued the check. In my case, they used my money for over two months without having to reconcile the difference. No doubt BOA encourages account holders to use Bill Pay…the service is free!
