I've tried a few crypto-to-fiat card setups, and most of them make you hand over custody of your funds just to get a working card. Bix does it differently.
The core idea is simple: it's a self-custody wallet paired with a Visa card, and you use your USDT or USDC as collateral to power the card. You're not selling your crypto or moving it to some custodial account first — you keep your keys, and the card just draws against your stablecoin balance. It works wherever Visa is accepted, which in practice means basically everywhere.
The wallet side is solid too. In-app swaps across multiple chains, straightforward send/receive, and none of the friction of bouncing between a wallet app and a separate exchange when you want to move assets around.
What actually won me over is the security setup. It's non-custodial by design, your key gets split using Shamir's Secret Sharing rather than stored whole anywhere, sensitive operations run in AWS Nitro secure enclaves, and the whole system is SOC2 Type II certified with three independent audits (Cure53, Zellic, Doyensec). That's a lot more rigor than most crypto card products bother with.
A couple of things are still labeled "coming soon" the fiat on-ramp and the rewards program — so it's not 100% feature-complete yet. But for what's live right now (the card, the wallet, the cross-chain swaps), it's a genuinely useful bridge between holding crypto and actually spending it.
