My convertible top has been experiencing issues since the low 20 thousand mile range. The computer is telling me the top is not locked, but is clearly down and locked. The red light flashes, the top doesnt function, the trunk doesnt work and the little back window doesnt work. Its been in and out of the shop over 12+ times in the last few years. Multiply dealerships in the DC area claim its a sensor issue and have always stood behind that. One dealership said "since the car is black, black, black, that the sensor gets hot and that is the reason for the error"(BMW of Arlington). It works for a few weeks to a few months then back in the shop. Now BMW of Arlington is telling me its not the sensor and its a frame issue. Now BMW is not standing behind thier car and my aftermarket warranty will not cover (they claim its now a frame/structural issue). Anybody else experience anything like this. BMW cant seem to fix the problem so now their digging for options and making me come out of pocket. Doesnt seem fair or right, especially on a 85k car.
