CAMELBACK FORD USED CARS Reviews

GORDON SWOPE April 13, 2010
DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING
We saw an advertised listing for a 2005 Ford Freestar Mini van on Kelley Blue Book. I have a copy of the ad. The price was $5499. I went to see it. I decided to purchase the vehicle and made an offer of $5000 on the vehicle. The salesperson's name was Farid Khan. He went to get the manager named "Jimmie" (602-290-3071 or 602-264-1851). They accepted the offer of $5, 000, but then, came back with a figure of more than $6, 700 plus tax and license. When I asked how, they stated that their ad clearly states there is a dealer prep fee of $999 - the ad does not say that. In addition, they had two document fees of $620 for paper work for applications in house and state documents - not disclosed either. We renegotiated the price down to $5, 700 which was to include everything except tax and license. I signed a contract and put down $500 on a debit card (I have a copy of our bank statement on that) and I was to pick up the car April 7, 2010. Jimmie the manager recorded a message on my cellphone, which I still have that they had a little bit of work to do on the car, but not much, but they didn't want to push the service dept to do a shoddy job. When I arrived at the agreed time to pick up the car, I noticed that the car had not been moved at all. There was a red mark on the passenger rear tire that was in the identical spot it had been in the day before. When I sat down to finalize everything, I was told that there was a shop charge of $700 over and above the agreed price. I told them I knew that the car had not been in the shop and it had not been moved at all. I reminded them that we had a signed contract with $500 down. They said that they had diagnosed that the car needed repairs, even though the car had not been moved.
I told them that if they were not going to sell me the car for the agreed price, I wanted my money back. I told the salespeople I thought what they were doing was illegal. I told them I was going to contact the Better Business Bureau. This business is engaging in deceptive advertising.
