When I realized that Cavalier Long Distance Service was billing me $43.75 through my credit card to 'maintain' my account whether I made long distance calls or not, I called my local carrier, (Verizon), and found they charged nothing if I made no long distance calls, so I had Verizon pull my account from Cavalier. We had a 3-way call with Cavalier to have that done.

Cavalier then skipped a bill for one month, and then billed my card for 2 months and a late fee. They then claimed that because I didn't separately notify their billing service, they had no way of knowing that my account was closed. (?) They then were willing to send me a check (3-6 weeks) for the current month, but refused to refund the previous month, because I had not notified them of the closed account in a timely fashion.

I feel this is at best gross incompetance, and is actually parasitic billing that amounts to theft.

Their service representatives were agressive in their refusal to accept responsibility or to refund both months.
