I took my car there yesterday to get my yearly inspection because my inspection sticker was expiring. BEFORE the inspection was conducted, I informed the owner THAT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. He went ahead and performed the inspection diagnostic anyway, told me I failed and then charged me $37.00. He then told me that in order for him to determine what the problem was, I would have to pay another $50+ and he would conduct a SPECIAL DIAGNOSTIC TEST on the car. Since he knew the check engine light was on, why had he not just conducted this special diagnostic test at the outset instead of charging me $37.00 to fail the first one? When asked how much everything would cost, he remained extremely VAGUE and non-committal about prices. I am convinced that this owner would not have taken the liberty to rip off or have conducted himself the way he did had I been a man.
