PHONE FAULTY
I took out a contract with CELL C about 10 months ago, they offered me a J750 which i thought is a quite nice phone, but i had slight problems with it two moths after i got it..I didnt think it was a big deal and just ignored it...Lastnight the phone just went dead...im taking it in for repairs toady.. so i wanna see whats the verdict.
And from what ive heard the J750 gives a lot of problems, but yet they are still persuading the people that it is a good choice..
Cell c sucks, and Samsung...

More disgusting customer service
I have been having the same disgusting service from cell C! Since MAY 2008 I have been contacting them as they overcharged me monthly by R180.
I cancelled my contract at the end of the 2 years and they still owed me money. I e-mailed a break down warning them a stop order will be put on the account.
This was deleted without being read. Now (December 2008) money is going off direct debit 2/3 times per week.
Every time I have to drive to the bank to reverse the debit. On trying to speak to ANY customer care person they refuse to let me speak to a manager and head office keeps directing my calls to customer care after I specifically asked them not to! What to do, driving to the office today to maybe resolve this face to face!!! I just give up!

3 months and no phone
Over the past 3 odd months, I was promised by 3 different cell c agents that I will get my new handset on a particular date, all of which were false promises. As at 04-11 I have still not received my phone even though Cell C has been promoting the handset on it monthly dealsheet since Early July. They offering a handset but don't have stock. Now I get told to choose another handset. When I asked that I receive another handset, and the payin be waived, in the spirit of customer satisfaction and the taking into consideration the over 3 months delay caused by Cell C, my request was rejected. Now I seem to be just getting ignored, "no stock so just wait". It is extremely difficult or impossible to get a request escalated.
Why must I choose another handset now, when I could have done that 3 months ago if I were just given the correct information. Who "pays" for the time that I have lost.
Sadly, my experience with Cell C has been extremely disappointing, and to think I have 4 contracts with them. What ever happen to customer satisfaction? In my opinion, it is something that Cell C needs to work on.

Disgusting customer service
In March 2008 I ended my 2 year mobile contract with Cell C, which was expiring in June 2008. I had the cancellation confirmed numerous times by Cell C. In July I realised that I was still being billed R280.00 p/m contract fee by Cell C, which via debit order, which they had clearly NOT cancelled. I complained about this to JAMES DIGHIPE on in Cell C's "customer service" department on 21 August, at 11H52, ref. no. 2444891, as they had billed me for August as well. Cell C had now taken R560.00 of my money, for an account I had cancelled FIVE MONTHS earlier. James promissed a refund for the full amount. NO REFUND. On 2 Sept, at 13H50, after 30m minutes of holding, calling back and asking for Management, I tracked down Molta in their "Director's Offices" via the Sandton Head Office. Molta promissed I would have a refund for the full amount in "7 working days". Ref no. 2473926. He promissed to call be back to follow up. NO REFUND, NO FOLLOW UP. On 17 Sept, I spoke to Nthabiseng Wessie, also of the "Director's Offices", who promissed a full refund in "3-7 working days". Surpise! NO REFUND.
I received the following response after posting this exact complaint on www.hellopeter.com:
Hello reniers Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Kindly be advised that a strict instruction has been sent to our billing division to process the necessary refunds onto your bank account with immediate effect. Please note that once confirmation has been received, we will advise accordingly. We would like to assure you that this is not the norm at Cell C, nor is it the level of service that we aspire to provide. We extend our sincere apologies for the sub-standard service that you may have initially received. For further assistance, please feel free to contact us on: [email protected] Regards, Nothando [email protected]
I called on today, 30 Sept, after another week of waiting, and ofcourse, STILL NO REFUND. Not only that, they cant even pretend to assist me as their "Customer Service" and Accounts departs' systems are "down". Take a bow Cell C. Poor, very poor.

Unauthorised deductions
I have renewed my contracts (2) in June 2008. I previously had 2 x 100 controll chat contracts. I migrated the one to a 50 controll chat. I got the phones and the new contracts but was still being billed for 2 x 100 controll chats. My monthly debits added up to R450 per month! I couldnt understand and phoned in to enquire. I was told that it I was billed for the instant top upps I made. Even though I did top ups and did it to the limit i.e. 2 x 100 = R400 maximum. Instead I was told that they "made an exception for me". Rediculous! Up untill today, I am STILL paying for 2 x 100 controll chats and my most recent bill was R310, 91 after I made sure not to phone in and do an instant recharge. I have now sent an email to their complaints department informing them that I have cancelled my debit order. As a single mother I battle to keep head above water with two little toddlers. I cannot afford to pay any unnecasary fees, especially if it's not of my to do. Even though every one at Cell C is friendly enough, I just get put through from one person to the other and so I have been battling with Cell C from July 2008, yet nothing has been done. I have been a client of them for more than two years. I feel they are in breach of contract deducting unauthorised fees from my not so big salary, so that gives me reason enough to cancell my contract with them. They beg and bargain to get contracts but once they have your money, they just dont care. I have now had enough.

Crookery
I was offered a contract on special promotion over the phone from Cell C, which I accepted. I also signed up, with the same operator, for an email address for the phone number I was getting and 2 additional free email addresses for my family. I was told that the phone would be delivered within x amount of working days - which it was not. 2 Weeks later I phoned to find out where my phone was and was told that I did not qualify for the promotion. However, that month (June 2008) 3 amounts of R29 went off as debit orders for the email addresses even though I had never got a phone or signed a contract for one and even though I was told you only pay for 1 and the other 2 are free. I phoned and complained and was told it would be rectified. The next month (July 2008) another 2 debit orders went off of R29 each. I phoned again and told the woman to cancel these IMMEDIATELY and refund my money, which she said she would do. This month (August 2008) ANOTHER 2 debit orders went off of R29 each and when I phoned through, they told me that only 1 debit order had been cancelled and that they would sort it out for next month but they were not willing to reverse these amounts, even after I was told the previous month that they would. I went onto their website last month and complained and asked for this to be sorted out and have not received any acknowledgement of my complaint. I believe that something must be done about this and other things that Cell C are doing to honest, hardworking people. I need this sorted out immediately. Even though this is such a small amount of money to some, it's a lot to me and my kids!!!

False advertising & bad service
Three weeks ago I wanted to upgrade to a phone with GPS. I had my eye on the HTC's, but asked to see all the phones with GPS. I decided to go for the HTC-S710 as it was also in this batch. I also wanted to step down from the 100 anytime minutes to a 100 off peak minute contract. For this I was advised that I can take the HTC-S710 at a once of fee of about R400. When all the paperwork was done, one of the other counter people informed us that the amount is about R1000 and not the R400 as indicated. All of this took some time and so I decided to stay on the 100 any time contract so I can get going. When the phone was handed to me I was informed that it has a 85 day exchange warranty for any product problem not related to physical damage or water. In the following week I tried setting up the internet and found out it had no GPS. Eventually we got the internet set up, but leaf locate still did not work. With in the following two weeks I learned that leaf locate is only a map download facility. There is no map guidance on this phone. I also purchased a micro SD card for the phone and then determined the slot is not working. Two weeks after I received the phone, I took it back with the complaints that the internet is not working and the SD card slot is faulty. They took the next hour in setting up my internet and then booked in the phone, because the SD slot is faulty. This repair would take four to six weeks. I had to leave so I just let it go. When inquiring about the exchange policy and in the following week I was told that there is only a seven day policy and the contract can not be reversed, because the phone packaging was opened. This means I got a phone for more than I wanted to pay monthly that hasn't got the functions I asked for. In other words, they are getting my money, so why would they care. I asked if they could reverse the contract and I live out my current contract for the remaining 3 months with the hope of new releases with my requirements, but this was declined. Like I said. They are getting my money, so why would they care. This is the service you can expect from Cell C in general as I get very little feedback from the customer services. The store where I signed the contract is in Menlyn Park shopping center, the Cell C shop next to Standardbank.
