A family heirloom cedar chest was taken to be restored and refinished. The chest was at Charleston Interior for approximately 18 months. When I picked the cedar chest up it was in worse condition than before it was taken in for repair. The veneer had been replaced and had several places where it was not attached to the chest. There was trim missing, the lock was not put on and it was a completely different color from the original. I have taken the cedar chest to another antique restoration business for an estimate on repairs that have to be re-done and also the refinishing to the original color. It will be a total of 900.00. I have reported this fraud to the Department of Consumer Affairs and will most likely have to file a claim in small claims court. I would appreciate hearing from anyone in the Charleston area that also has done business with Charleston Interior and what comments they would offer regarding the quality of work they received.
