Episode 6th July. i was dismayed when there were flippant discussions about breastfeeding which resulted in Maria giving in almost immediately in favour of a bottle. The benefits of breastfeeding far outweigh those of formula milk for both mother and baby and breastfeeding should be promoted and encouraged wherever possible. Breastfeeding is already stigmatised yet new mothers often need support and this episode conveyed only negative attitudes with a complete failure to expose the benefits. If more babies were breastfed perhaps the health of our society would greatly improve. A valuable opportunity was missed which could have aided national health improvement targets, in a positive way. This is a very serious issue to parents which was dealth with in an extremely insensitive way.
