Dr. Covert runs a deer hunting operation on his ranch near Cotulla, TX. He routinely trades deer hunts for ranch work and other services. However, after the work is done, he finds a way to get out of providing the hunt. I looked after his ranch for over 7 months with the promise of a trophy deer hunt. Shortly after arriving there to hunt several weeks ago, Covert became belligerent, aggressive, threatening, and insulted my wife. His erratic behavior and access to firearms convinced us we should leave immediately. I filed a report with the local Sheriff's office. He took a fishing trip with a friend of mine who is a fishing guide and agreed to provide a dove and quail hunt in exchange. Later, he told my friend there were no quail to hunt (false as I have seen many quail on the ranch) and then would not call him anymore. He ripped off his own website designer for $12000. He failed to provide a trophy hunt to a guy who did $12000 worth of roadgrading in the property. He has a reputation for making paying hunters shoot inferior bucks and then charges them the full trophy fee. He has ripped off numerous people in the nearby town of Cotulla, TX He is known by the Sheriff and the local Game Warden as being "a nut". His former ranch manager told me many stories of how he ripped off paying hunters. This man struts around like a pompous fool, won't lift a finger to do any work, and is extremely rude and arrogant. I believe him to be dangerous and unstable as well.
