New York City Housing Authority has turned off gas to the "G" apartments in my building. It is close to two months that we are without gas and they have provided a two burner hot plates to us at the time that the gas was turned off. They may think this would suffice but two months is too long to be using these hotplates to provide meals for an entire family. I've without the function of baking which is something most mothers do a lot of in the winter. Plugging in different appliances to substitute for the oven situation causes shortages that I am flicking power switches (which I know nothing about) to make power come back on in the apartment. This has caused so much mental stress for me and my children- computer shutting down in the middle of their schoolwork, while I attempt to make their meals. I was told by NYCHA (Van Dyke Houses, Bklyn mgmt) for the first three weeks that they were trying to locate a gas leak, and that it may or may not be necessary to break apt. walls to find said leak. On 3/12/09 by a superintendent that they are waiting for a permit from Dept. of Buildings to do the required work. Please someone/anybody help.
