A young man identifying himself as a neighbor stopped by my house with the story of raising money to go to London with his communications class at San Diego State Univ., ...lots of details that square with the other complaints I've read here and on other sites, right down to the comment that his Mom walked her dogs in the neighborhood. He gave his name as Craig Trautman, a white male, early twenties, about 5' 9", and stocky. After giving him a check, for books to be donated to the Childrens Hospital, Orange County, I went to drive by his house to see if he had given me a valid address, and saw him hanging out on the street with some other guys which raised my suspicions. (also did not find the address which he gave quickly and that I had thought I committed to memory). So I did an internet search on the company listed on the receipt and cancelled my check. The scam is national. Really pitiful that someone with so much talent for sales would be involved in such a shameful scam. Maybe someone will buy books for you when you are in jail Craig.
