Commercial Funding Scam
This company claims to be the number one commercial lender in the nation. Their web site lists many "testimonials" and "recently funded" loans of $2 million to $10.3 billion, totaling over $46 billion, but they could not give the name of any borrower or attorney who has closed any loan with them. Their web site is full of deceptions designed to collect upfront fees payable within 24 hours of a Commitment Engagement Letter. Then they issue a Commitment Letter, which in the fine print indicates that they can change terms or deny the loan and keep the money, or ask for additional money. In my case they issued a Commitment Letter after receiving $27,500, then demanded an additional $175,000. to continue the "underwriting". When I refused to pay, they denied the loan. When I met with Calvin D. Blake, president of the company at 440 Louisiana Street, Suite 900 in Houston, Texas, I found that he rents a room in a suite with a receptionist who answers for many businesses, and he could not show me anything to indicate that he has made any loans, or is capable of arranging the loans. It is an up front fee scam. BEWARE of Them!
