Early Term Fees
Direct TV is cheating people because of the new HD TV they are not able to supply HD in all areas because of Trees. They come to your house and you can have an HD TV and they will put a regular box on the TV and lock you into a longer term contract and you HD looks like crap.

Fraud and scam
Direct TV is running a classic switch and bait. The sales people are purposely withholding vital info regarding the terms of their promotions which substantially affect the amount of money you will end up paying. It is outright fraud and deceit. I even got 2 CSR's to admit this and profusely apologized and that they are in the akward position of having to deal with irate customers EVERY DAY. What does this tell you? This company is ripping people off and this is no joke.

For example, they purposely don't tell you that the promotional price is only good for 1/2 of the 24 month locked in term; that you have to enroll in auto bill pay to get the promotional rate. That you have to fill out a rebate form that takes up to 2 months to process and that you have to pay the full amount until it is processed. Gee, I wonder why you have to fill out a rebate that takes 2 months... gee, so they can charge you the much higher rate during that time. Thats the only purpose of the quote, 'rebate'.

The sales rep also lied to me in stating that the $5.99/month fee for the DVR service will only be charged if the service is turned on. I opted to not have the DVR service, but was promised the DVR in case I wanted DVR service in the future. Low and behold, 2 reps told me that she was wrong and that there is nothing they can do. Same thing with the $4.99 lease fee for the 2nd box she didn't tell me about, even though I asked her TWICE to repeat to me an itemized list of every single fee and the total monthly price I would pay.

She left out the $4.99 lease fee and the $5.99 DVR fee I declined. The CSR's were rude and stone walling and just repeated in a non caring, cold, matter of fact manner that there was nothing they could do and did I want to cancel - but, oh ya, there will be a $480 early cancellation fee. RIP OFF !!! I relied on an oral contract to my detriment and I am filing SUIT!! DON'T BUY DIRECT TV!!!

additional charge
Canceled Direct TV. Told a final bill would be sent in the mail. Final bill dated 11/18/08 was received. A few days later a new bill was received for $2.52 more. Second bill was dated 11/21/08. Bill was sent as past due since first bill had not been payed. Called Direct TV & told them the first bill was received after the second bill was sent. Was notified that I still had to pay the new amount. It was my fault for not paying first bill on time.

The money is not the issue but the way they cheat people. Multiply this by several thousand per month and they make a good profit cheating people. Subscribers BEWARE!a41ea

unauthorized debiting of account
debited my account for early termination fee when i was told they would send me a bill because they didnt have authorization to use debit card and put my account in the -253. 00. So now they wont do anything about it and act like they dont care. personally you tell someone not to use your card and they do it anyway that is against the law. So personally they should suffer in jail for being thieves because that is all they are... I tell them know and they steal my money anyway.. I think they should do what they did to thieves in the old days... NEVER USE DIRECT TV.

THIS COMPANY DIRECTTV THE DEPARTMENT THAT TAKES CARE OF RESTORING SERVICES REALLY HAS EMPLOYEES THAT ARE SO UNPROFESSIONAL I TRIED TO GET MY SERVICE RESTORED AND I CALLED SEVERAL TIMES I TALK WITH A BAD ATTITUDE LADY NAME STEPHAINE, LOUISE, AND KIMBERELY AND THE DEPARTMENT WITH THE TELEPHONE NUMBER YOU SUPPOSED TO CALL 18778371603 THOSE GIRLS REALLY DO NOT NEED TO BE WORKING WITH THE PUBLIC THEIR ATTITUDES ARE EXTREMELY BAD THEY KEPT TELLING ME DIFFERENT ANSWERS I WILL CHECK BACK TO SEE IF THEIR HAS BEEN ANYONE THAT LOOKED INTO THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE THEIR ATTITUDE WAS UNACCEPTABLE.

Unauthorized billing
We have been customers of Direct TV for 9 years. All though they state there records show we have only been with them for 3 months. Today October 22nd, when I went to get Milk for my 2 kids my card was declined. I went home and noticed that direct TV had taken all of my funds out of my bank; as if they knew how much I had. I have been making monthly payments of $40.00 but not the original $69 a month. I never heard anything from them, they just decided that my payment wasn't enough and disconnected our TV and charged me $200.00 for our DVR box all together totaling $394.23. How can a company just take your funds without your knowledge. What is the extra $194.23 for. Last I knew my current bill was only $120.00. I asked them if they have a contract that I signed or a voice recording stating that they could steal my money and I was told they had nothing. I talked to 10 people today all stating different stories. A few said there was nothing that could be done, One person said I would get all my money back plus all the fee's my bank will charge. Another was extremely rude and was reading from a screen, so on and so on. I told them about complaintsboard and all the other innocent people that are being affected and they don't seem to care. How can a company do this to people that are paying on the these accounts? I can understand if it was someone that skipped town and Direct TV hadn't heard from them in months or years, but everyone getting frauded by Direct TV seems to be paying customers. This can't be legal, even if Direct TV stated that they have no binding contracts with anyone that was signed or voice recorded. I am up for a lawsuit!! WE should at least get a notice when our funds will be stolen. But then again, crimes to innocent people aren't announced.

time for service stinks
Service time is too long. It will take 17 days for a service person to fix our sattelite. That means no TV for 17 days. We even purchased insurance for service and it still is lousy service.

fraud
LIARS/CON ARTISTS!!DIRECT TV promised me 6 months free if I signed up. There were no free months and when i compained they tried to upsell me. The installer also told me what I was signing simply states that the installation was complete. found out that I signed a 2 yr agreement with a penalty of $467. if i cancel. The selection of channels are terrible and operating DTV is difficult. was not given the channels I was promised.
Most are PPV
They also charged my credit card without permission I found outTHAT THEY can be taken to small claims court

Direct TV will not return our money in a timely manner! My kids are hungry!
On August 6th, 2008 my fiance called Direct TV to settle on our past due account of $807.76(charges for fees on boxes unless returned or account is reinstated.) Direct TV settled on $225.00(we reinstated our account.) Within a day or two I went to make a withdrawl and there was no money left in my account. After going over my account I realized Direct TV withdrew two seperate amounts, one was for $225.00 and the other was for $582.76, turns out to be a total of $807.76. I immediately called Direct TV and spoke with a supervisor by the name of Marisol. Marisol agreed it was there mistake and they would return $585.09 (with taxes). I then explained to her my account was already insufficient and was accumalating fees. She assured me if I faxed in a statement to her all monies would be returned to my account by Friday August 15th, 2008. I was so excited about finding my money and knowing it would be returned to me that I did not realize how long I would have to wait. Today, (Monday August 11th, 2008) my fiance tried to get in touch with Direct TV to explain to them we needed the money returned sooner. Direct TV stated (Jared)they would be unable to return it any sooner. My fiance asked if we wrote a check for groceries if they would pay the "bounce fee, " he also stated they would be unable to pay the fees. Now for the dilemma, we have five children and that was money needed to buy some groceries, fuel for my car to get to work, and school supplies (school starts on Wednesday), and whatever else I needed to do with "my money." So I guess what I am asking is what am I supposed to do until Friday. I borrowed $20.00 last night to buy $7.83 worth of food for seven people for three meals for today and I put the rest in gas at $3.64 a gallon. I need food for the rest of the week and do not have the resources to beg or borrow. How can someone take your money so quickly and easily out of your account. Yet, take as long as they need to return it. I also had two credit cards I needed to pay and they are now past due (first time.) If anyone reads this and can call Direct TV and ask them to please put a rush on this we would greatly appreciate it. Overcharged
I had DIRECT TV for over 2 years and fulfilled my 2 year contract. I called them to cancel. They told me they were going to charge me an Early termination fee and a total charge for about 217.00. So I filed a Dispute with the Better Busines Bureau whom has been very helpful at resolving disputes about different things in the past. And decant company's Do work with you.

Not DIRECT TV they came back and said I Owed 610.00 How did it go from 210.00. to 610.00. I know other people who have had problems with Direct TV and they don't care. I just want to Warn people about DIRECT TV so they DON'T have the same problem. To STAY away from this company. I was warned a year ago by a friend about them and told myself this wont happen to me. Will it did. I am very upset about this.
