Fraud and scam
Notified Direct TV to cancel service. I was told that since a few weeks ago I had a failed HD receiver fail and it was replaced by a Direct TV technician that a new contract was initiated. I was never told of this. Why would a failed rented receiver start a new contract? I was on a month to month contract as I had already had the terrible service beyond the original contract period. I told the Direct TV agent that if I saw the fraudulent charge on my bill I would institute a charge back immediately. My service shall end on July 11, 08 and I am sending back the two receivers to the address given to me by the agent. I still can't figure how replacing THEIR FAILED receiver is resulting in them claiming a new contract has been started?

Gouging charges
I would like for the Mo State Attorney General (Jay Nixon to view all Complaints Re: Direct TV and Previous Customer Bills, Recorded conversations of False Promises and Gouging charges to Consumer Billing issues. My Direct TV Bill has Jumped from approx. &80.00 per month to Over $120.00 per month, in less than a 2 year period. Service has NOT charged; JUST CHARGES and Billing! They have added approx. an Additional $500.00 per year to my Bill. but definitely not the Service! What can be done?
Does anyone care? This has to be illegal! Is there a way to file a class Action lawsuit? Direct TV Reps have been programed and Directed to LIE to consumers.

Won't refund money
Canceled service. Took forever to send me returns for boxes. Charged my card for the boxes. Once I sent boxes and they received, they said I would get a check in 6-8 weeks. Didn't take that long for them to charge me for the boxes. Still holding my money. Tells me to rest assured I would get it. This is no chump change. They still have yet to send my money. This is crazy!

Scam billing
I recently tried to cancel my DTV service and turns out, when I upgraded to HD in February of this year and no one told me that I was signing on for an 18 month contract. I was told I would have to pay a $380 cancellation fee and there was nothing I could do about it. No one verbalized it nor was it in any paperwork the day the service person came. So how did I agree to this? So I called then countless times and spoke to "customer service reps" who do nothing but tow the company line and know nothing. I then wrote a letter asking them to wave the ridiculous and unethical cancellation fee and for someone with some authority to please get back to me. SO i get a message on my voice mail letting me know that they will be canceling my service today and charging me the $380 fee. it's like no one really read the letter!! These people are thieves and it is so incredibly frustrating - what can we do about it???

Overcharge and rude service
Moved Tv Phone line not re placed discovered problem after two months. I got a bill for $120. dollars of movies I was not able to watch. Talked to two customer service reps and three supervisors after about 4 hours of being on hold one hang up from second supervisor and acknowledgment that I was being charged and telling me it was my fault because I had ordered movies even though they were not sent. As a customer for 14 years I was able get get partial credit of$100. dollars. The customer service for loyal customers is no better than the reviews show for new customers. I just up graded and I am stuck for two more years. but the current system with all tv services is a scam to get you. There is no appreciation of the value of loyal customers.
Also beware on installation They tried to charge me $180. dollars for cable that was to be free and brought a regular box instead of HD for second room. I refused to let them start till all extras were agreed to and box was changed. The final cost was $60. to drop double line from addict, Fair price I agreed even though the sales man told me it would be free.
Again I am a 14 year customer treated like a step child. Ask questions do not let them do anything till you get all questions answered.
Bait and switch is there goal, if you let it happen.

Charges not agreed upon
Back in January Direct TV had an offer in the Sunday paper for $49.99 a month for 12 months with 3 months of free premium channels. This was to include over 200 channels including locals. DVR service. We have gone back and forth with them ever since I have called and told it would be taken care of then they send me to someone that I could not even understand because he did speak English and asked to speak to someone that did. I gave them the Promotion Code from the flier as well as the offer on the net. they seem to be be able to find this offer! I have a copy of the offer from that Sunday's paper as well as the down load with names, dates and times of everyone I have spoken to since our first bill to complain about always have to "search" for a channel being told they were installing a new satellite to improve their service and a bunch of we are so sorry for the inconvenience but no one has changed the billing to what it should be. They are charging us $72.99 a month. Last month they just added a policy for $5.99 in case something went wrong with the service to avoid a "service call" of $80.00. This month I got a charge for the internet! I have been with AT&T since it came into existence! I called and asked about the charge only to be told that I must have called for it! i don't think so. I am very dissatisfied but afraid of what they will do to my UNBLEMISHED credit rating if I stop service before it is up. I agreed to the 12 month service but I agreed at $49.99 not the $72.99 they are charging me. I could go on but I stop for now. I hope that this helps someone else before they make the same mistake we did. It is not always as good as it sounds!

Terrible service
I was contacted by Direct TV to initiate service. I informed them I lived in a 2 story home and they would need an extended ladder to install dish. It took 3 attempts to connect. The first attempt was an 8 hour waste of time that resulted in the technician placing a large bracket on a side roof on the front of the house. We did not wish for the dish to be visible which we communicated to the technician. He did not have a 40 ft ladder so after 8 hours of attempting and placing the bracket in the side roof and not being able to get a signal... he rescheduled us. The second attempt the guy was an hour late. I called to check on the appointment. Customer service told me he would be there shortly. The guy did show... in a rental vehicle without a ladder as he'd been in an accident and was told by his boss he would have to come to inform me in person. The technician was obviously shaken. The third attempt... the ladder was long enough but the technician said he needed a second person for safety to hook up. After 4 hours, my husband ended up assisting with the installation. The hook up took all day. When the technician went to make the connection call, they had us signed up for a different service. This of course took forever to straighten out. I called to complain about the start of this service. I was transfered several times and finally connected to someone (in India) who said he would give us some free service time, provided an address to send my roof repair issue, and promised great customer service from then forward.
We were never able to get the promised HD channels even though we had a HD TV and a HD receiver. Most of the time we had to restart the system or call into customer service (10-15 min call each time ). The end result was I missed the first 15 min. of just about every show I wanted to view. If I scheduled it to record, it would just miss the show all together. I scheduled 3 technician appointments. One third of the time they would show and not be able to do the job due to inadequate equipment. After several months, no compensation for time and trouble with the hook up and no reimbursement for my roof repair. I called to cancel my service, the CS person talked me into allowing "the best technician they have" come out. He came without a ladder on the scheduled day. Rescheduled for 2 days later- while at our home, he stated because of our location and the large oaks, we would most likely always have difficulty. 2 days later, I went to view a program. Got the familiar error message and called to cancel service. I thought after me taking off work 3 days to allow installing the darn service, having my husband in danger as the technician's assistant, missing the first 15 minutes of my few favorite shows during the entire service time, not being able to view HD channels, and last but not least... canceling a football party since we were not able to view the game they would waive the early termination fee but they are charging me and have not addressed any of my complaints. I would advise against doing business with Direct TV. The contract with them is one way only.

Harassing calls
Direct TV has a disputed bill with someone who has my name. They keep calling me about the bill. I explain it isn't me and give them info to show it isn't. But a couple months later the calls start again! When I ask to speak with a supervisor they hang up on me. This has happened at least 5 times - and I can't get them to stop the calls.
Don't ever deal with this company - they obviously are slimy business people who are happy to harass people whether they are customers or not.

Harassment
for the past 2 1/2 weeks, each and every day I receive a solicitation call from Direct TV. Their current promotion is to upgrade to additional HD channels for 3 months free and then only 4.99 / month. The first *representative* that I spoke to told me...that MY viewer exerience needed to be increased and that *I* was foolish if I didnt increase my own experience. After politely saying NO thank you, I have received calls every day even as late as 9:45 PM. 4 calls placed directly to DTV asking to be placed on their do not solicit list and being assured it was *taken care of*, have NOT corrected the problem. Next call, they lose a customer...period...
