fraud-misrepsinted
Yes we were approched by gentlemen from direct tv offering a free up grade as he stated what we had was outdated , we were upgraded to a dvd receiver but was to save us $ 10.66 from our own bill which would be less than $ 50.00 per month my 1st bill was$ 73.42 not less than $ 50.00 after numerous emails sent out and many phone calls later Direct TV gave me a choice go back to my old programming at a cost of $ 60.66 now i have a choice to make return to old programming or pay $ 73.42 in a year plus rental fees. As for a free upgrade yes it is $ 13.42 + up grade as for the company they even said it was fraud by deception. that is there words but really was not given a choice take it or leave it is my options. We are Senior Citizens this all happened 1-09-2008 up grade made as the end of feburary and dont see an end in sight unless we go to court to settle this mess and should not happen but they still remain firm on there commintment not to settle as we agreed. Yes they even took my old receiver which we owned as the same as the dish in my front yard we have contacted the Attorney General of our state also the Department of ag. we also contacted the CFO of Florida this is as far as we go we also have an attorney who states that the contract is void as it has only my name on it and my cell phone number but yet my wife is primary owner with her SSN # . Now that is a long story made short.

The Company...Direct tv
I want my refund of 19.95. I will contact the channel 8 news reguarding this situation along with the countless other complaints.

This is absolutely the WORST company in the United States. They are a bunch of liars and there customer service is grade AA dog @#*%.
I called direct tv to recieve service since i kept hearing how they are #1 provider with the lowest price (no wonder they have the lowest price...they are a bunch of thieves). My first service call was "rained out" and had to be rescheduled (allthough it never rained here). At that time the tech CONFIRMED MY ADDRESS and rescheduled. The day came of the next appointment and after taking off work to wait for direct tv ..they never showed. I called direct tv and after an 11/2 hours they finally found me in the system and offered me a $15.00 credit for my loss (allthough i make 15.00 an hour X 8) and "promised me" that I would get service 2 days later on a Saturday. Saturday morning came and i was so excited to hear from a tech. However this is how the conversation went.
Tech: Hey this is so&so from direct tv. I was calling to find out how to get to your house.
Me: Ok. You go here and here and so on.
Tech: Well I am in Roanoak and it is sixty miles from your house.
Me: Ok well what time do you think you will be here?
Tech: Let me call dispatch and i will call you back.
That is the last time I heard from the "professional installer" as they say.
The tech had called a couple hours before my actual appointment so when i called direct tv they said I had to wait til after the missed appointment to call.
So...I call direct tv after the missed appointment to explain my problem with the faith of SURELY they would come out right away to fix it. But once again here comes the runaround. But this time i have to say was a pretty good BIG FAT LIE. She sais oh the tech went to the wrong city. "YOU" gave us the wrong zip code. Ok...I have two words..BULL SHIT. I have lived here for 2 1/2 years and payed my 12-15 bills a month , gived my address countless times. Never have I given the wrong "zip code" before.

So at this point I want to cancel. I dont want anything else from this JOKE of a co. and I am pissed. She informes me i can't cancel because i will be charged a cancelation fee. I HAVE NEVER FELT SO HELPLESS BEFORE. Usually you can get high enough in the company that someone can satisfy "the customer". That is what customer satisfaction is all about right????? WRONG.
So I have to swallow my pride and reschedule.

Super Bowl Sunday!!!!!! They are supposed to be there between 8-12am. Once again they never showed. I don't think i have to tell you my feelings around this event.

This letter can only begin to tell you of the NIGHTMARE I encountered with this company. Not including the hours of time i spent on the phone with them, the promises they made, the money they really owe me for all the credits they gave me before the service ever had a chance of being installed, the I'm sorry's , the I understand your frustration, Bull shit if you understood you would make it right. No wonder there is a lack of communication, you can't ever understand these people.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET THE CHEAPEST SERVICE.......YOU REALLY DO

no returns allowed
After purchasing an RF multiroom remote control per the advice of a Direct TV Salesperson (who assured me that this remote would operate my specific model receiver D12-300, from any room in the house). Well it does not operate the receiver in the RF function at all. I called to return the remote for a refund and was told that Direct TV does not allow for any returns of remote controls and that there was no way for me to get a refund of the $31.50 paid up front for the remote. even though it was purchased on the advice of the Direct TV representative. I only want my money back!

Misleading Sales and Poor Service
I called Direct TV after having a negative experience with a few other companies. The sales guy rushed me through the call, didn't tell me about any packages. He automatically signed me up for the most expensive package. He talked me into a DVR I didn't want, and didn't tell me there would later be a monthly fee of 5.99. He didn't tell me there would be a charge for each receiver, which was also 5.99 each. What was supposed to be a package deal for $47 a month turned into an $85+ a month bill. Then they kept screwing up when they were coming out to install. Have I mentioned that both the sales place and the installers do not work for Direct TV? They are separate companies. I learned that when the guy came to install everything. I've only had the service for a week and I wanted to turn it off. I spent hours on the phone with people trying to disconnect the service when they told me I signed a 2 year contract with them and that if I wanted out I had to pay $480! I was never told this was a long term deal. And if I want to dispute it I have to submit a letter to this unknown billing place that has no phone. As of now this has not been resolved. How is this fair to any consumer? If anyone knows of any class action lawsuits I can join, please comment back.

False Information
When i originally agreed to sign up for Direct TV there was a promotional advertisement going on now that i've gotten my services installed and i received my billing statement the price that was told to me is not what im being charged i've spoke to two representatives in which one said that I may have been incorerctly billed so she would transfer me to a supervisor whom i spoke to and basically was told whomever initially set up the account gave me wrong information and i was wasting my time because there is nothing he could or would do to correct the false information that was given to me.

I am completely unsatisfied with the way the situation was handled I spoke to three different representatives from Direct TV in which all of them have given me different informaton i fell as though they tell u one thing to get you to sign a contract and then bill u for whatever they want and that is totally unaccetable and i would like to get this matter resolved a.s.a.p.

Online signup
Tried to sign up for Direct TV online. I got a screen that said there was a problem with my order and to call and gave a phone number. I found, when I called, that there was no problem, they just wanted to tell me that the first month would be $10 higher and that there would be a $21 fee for something.

None of this was on their website. I told the rep that their website was deceptive and to cancel my order. She just kept right on talking until I hung up.

I will do without satellite TV before I will do business with this company.

Direct TV customer service sucks!
Direct TV is a mismanaged, horribly run company. If anyone is to search there are hundreds of complains logging the same infractions done by direct TV. Apparently, no one at Direct TV is bothering to take the complains seriously enough to make changes.

For the first month of service we have lost signal 4 times and for days at a time until a service tech as available. They mis-keyed the amount of the check to cover the balance and did nothing to rectify the situation. The original price we were quoted was not what was reflected in our monthly statement. What they do not tell you is that you have to apply for a rebate that takes months to reflect in your bill. This is unethical business practice and would not be tolerated in any other serious business. If direct TV is interested in keeping customers, as well as, obtaining new customers they would be wise to listen to the numerous complaints.

Beware of Direct TV...

Rip off!
Service was installed for less then a week when I called to cancel service, I was told that they did not have a cancellation policy (like most company you are given a grace period normal is 10 days). They then charged my credit card a total of 219.61, 20.95, and 57.75, with out my permission, my credit card company reversed charges and now I am getting harassed by a collection company on a daily basics. Something needs to be done with a company that falsifies their services. Reading about complains on line it looks like I am not the only victim.

Misrepresentation of product and price!
I called and ordered a 39.99 plan.as i was going to hang up the phone i this guy yell "i am throughing in ta NFL package for ya"! So i said great! Little did i know i would receive a bill for 90.00.i called direct tv and tried to explain. Every robot in that place had the same answer. SORRY YOU SIGNED UP FOR THE NFL PACKAGE HA HA. These people want me to pay 545.00 for cancellation. If my order was correct i would not have to cancel it. To make a long story short. The guys out on the street working for direct tv i found pleasant. The sales person i got on the phone was THE LION KING1 what a piece of trash. Direct tv is to be avoided. Do yourself a favor! GO CABLE!!! DON'T GET PINCHED!
