service and billing
Direct TV has the worst billing and customer service in the world. I cancelled service last month after discussing my bill. I was told on two occasions that I owed nothing on my contract. Here we are fighting with them for a week or so about the $320 contract charge. It took at least 5 calls to the local idiots(customer service) and two to supervisors in billing to clear up that charge. Now they are robo billing my debit card for another month automatically. I disenrolled in early November. After more repeated calls (4) they claim the day I called Monday they will finally reverse the unauthorized monthly bill (for december, I had no service since Nov 13th) I called them for the same
problem on Nov 19th. So they sat on the refund for 10 days hoping I would go away or forget the $117 debit they took unauthorized. Today I still don't have my money back.
IF YOU THINK FOR ONE MOMENT I WOULD EVER EVER EVER GO BACK TO THESE IDIOTS YOUR CRAZIER THAN THEM...GOOD BY DIRECT TV. NOW KNOW AS DIRECT DEBIT MONSTERS. THEY ARE IDIOTS WITHOUT A CLUE ON CUSTOMER SERVICE. They were gouging me on the monthly bill also, that is why I quit them.

Poor Customer Service
I have to wonder if The CEO of direct TV even reads these messages. If he does, then maybe he would do something about the poor service and wasting peoples time. I got Direct TV at my home and after several phone calls, a lot of my time wasted by no show technicians, we finally got it installed.
Now I've spent a week trying to get a quote on my 80 units condo complex in Kailua-Kona Hawaii and a return phone call, but to no avail. I've also been trying for over a month to get my commercial business in Waipahu Hawaii set up, but nothing. They gave me numbers that are disconnected, supervisors who are never available and just plain waste your time.
Customer Service? I've been apologized to a thousand times, but if it is not on the script, and you are in Hawaii, good luck!

Early Cancellation Charge
SURELY, there has to be a law firm out there that is willing to initiate a class-action lawsuit again this outrageously disgusting company! After reading pages and pages of consumer complaints, I have to sound off as well. I cancelled my one- year contract with Direct TV four days before my contract expired because one of their obnoxious customer service reps told me that it was the only day they could terminate my service (?). I was told there would be a $60.00 early cancellation fee. I argued that they were calling the shots on their pre-determined termination date. After going round and round (and, of course, getting nowhere), I said fine. Comcast was coming the following week.
I then rec'd my final bill from Direct TV which showed I only owed $15. Naturally, I thought "this is great" - no cancellation fee. Needless to say, I paid the $15 final bill the same day. I even received a final statement from Direct TV which showed a -0- balance. Now, here's the catch! Since Direct TV is the only company that Qwest does business with for a bundled price, I was billed the $60.00 fee on my Qwest statement. I have submitted copies of the final Direct TV statement (showing the -0- balance) to Qwest when I refuted the $60 charge. Gee, that was March, 2010 and I'm STILL waiting for my $60 refund from Qwest. This practice REALLY needs to stop. Hope there are some attorneys out there reading the Complaints Board!

Hidden charges
I ordered and installed Direct Tv about 5 months ago. At the time, I had the opprotunity to install up to 4 rooms. I did only 2 rooms. I called to get a 3rd room installed and was told I would be charge as a "new customer" and the extra install would cost over $100.00 and add extra on to my bill every month. At the time of my initial installation, I had told them that if my son where to move / come home, I would put service in his bedroom. They said nothing about extra charges at a later time. Well he will be home from college over the holidays and I wanted his bedroom to be as inviting as possible. However, not now, I can't afford the extra fees to put a receiver in his room. I should have been told this at the time that I ordered my initial hook up. I would have just done it then, FOR FREE. What a rip off!

unathorized withdraw
Company Direct TV went to my bank acct and took out an unathorized amount from my bank acct. Company stated they could because they have my information on file. That is absurb. A company should only take when it has been authorized by the person. Its like stealing.

Stealing money from customers
Direct TV is a big ripoff. I just paid them 180 dollars last month, they cut off my tv this month for payment of 286 dollars. Oh my gosh where are these bills coming from. My bill is due on 26 every month, plus they have me paying for NFL.I do not look at sports period. They owe me money, I have never allowed my bill to go two months. They make no sense in explaining this bill. I am cutoff and will stay off. Then they tell me bail out fee is 148 dollars and I have been with them for almost two years. They are a big rip off and I blame ATT because they have contract with them. So they are ripping of customers also. I am sick and tired of these companies doing it to paying companies.

un explained charges
These rip offs throw charges at you with out explainations and then disconnect your service and tell you there are no negotiations. I cannot believe that the goverment lets these companies operate and rip people off like they do. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY their service people are ruthless and will mistreat you in a heartbeat. All that money that they put into advertisement, their people screw it all up. I am going back to cable. $375.00 1 month bill out of the blue is unbelievable, try it and find out.

FRAUD
Direct TV fraudulently withdrew $948.04 from my account on November 15, 2010. I did not authorize Direct TV to withdrawal any funds, nor did I have a contract with them, or was receiving services from them at the time they took my money. I originally contacted Direct TV in late April or first of May 2010 in response to an ad received through the mail. At the time the bundle was to be $86 for all the movie channels and the internet and there was no contract, I specifically asked that question and was told no, it was month to month. Upon installation the workers broke the meter box and left two satellite dishes in the yard and left cut wires exposed. I called Direct TV to complain about that, they took my information asked that I send pictures to an address, which I did but have never been credited or contacted regarding the complaint. The electric company had to replace the meter which they destroyed and bill to my account. Additionally when I paid the initial payment of $197.00 I questioned why I was given a price of $86, I was told that my account would be credited the difference. That was never done. I also called to complain that one of the receiver’s boxes was not working and we did not have cable on that TV, this was about a week after services were installed. I was told someone would come out to fix it; the first time that someone did come out was about after 3 or 4 calls later. They fixed the box so some channels would appear, but no less than three days later the same problem still existed and no channels were available. Again I called and was told someone would come out to repair it, they never showed up. I also complained asking that we get credit for the box since we were paying monthly for something that was not working. Again I was told they would credit the account, and again that never did happen, likewise they said they would fix the box, they never did. Furthermore the internet services which were supposed to be part of the bundle was never installed, was told on three occasions that they would be out to set it up, they never showed. There was a rebate as well that was part of the special they were running, although I filed online for the rebate, I was told that it never went through and therefore I would not be receiving a rebate. Each month I was charged $186 for TV only. Each time I called I was told my account would be credited, it never was. Therefore given the shady way business was conducted, the inflated cost and the lack of consistency with Direct TV, I canceled the service in late July/early August 2010. I was told I would need to return the boxes in the return package that would be sent to me. I did not receive a return package until November 16, 2010. At no time were they given authorization to debit my account for any amount. However on November 15, 2010 my account was debited $948.04. I had to go to the bank and file and affidavit to get my money back. My debit card had to be canceled and a new one issued, which I will have to wait 3-5 days to receive. The other bills I have pending will likely cause my account to be overdrawn because of this. At no time was it disclosed to me that they would ever charge my account for any reason, other than when I called in and made a payment over the phone. However, that was not the case when they stole this money from me. They used the credit card information they had on file from previous payments to commit fraud and take my money. Direct TV should not be allowed to take hardworking consumer’s money because they feel like it. I called to complain about this and demand my money back, at first they told me to call the bank because it would be quicker. Then we spoke with Jamal, a supervisor who said he could credit my account for $600.00, and that all of it would be credited to the account if we reconsidered having Direct TV for a service provider. Again this is unacceptable and we demanded that all the funds be returned immediately. The end result after a 1 hour and 20 minute conversation with several different people in customer service, Jamal agreed that the funds would be credited back to my account, but it would take a week or so and again suggested that I contact my financial institute because it would be quicker for them to do credit it. Given the history of deceit displayed by Direct TV it is highly unlikely that they will be crediting my account back. This has been a big hassle; my bank is making me wait while they investigate before they are able to return my money. Meanwhile I still do not have my money and the whole matter is unfair to hardworking honest consumers like myself. I do not have an extra grand to throw away to a company who clearly commits fraud. This should not be allowed!

Damage
This is the second time this happened to me. I am a landlord. A tenant of mine called Direct TV for service, and the company came out an installed a new dish on my house, drilling into my new siding without my permission. This is wrong, except the FCC allows this. Direct TV and the law allows a company to come on my property, drill holes in my new siding, and install hardware without the owner's permission. This is wrong. Direct TV won't remove the dish. They are a bad company who hurts landlords. I already have a dish that services all tenants who want service; however, this tenant from a different ethnic background didn't understand that. He shouldn't be punished- he has no money to pay. Direct TV is at fault!! They should have a landlord's signature to touch his property.
