service cut
We have been paying our monthly bill directly to Direct TV. But Consolidated Smart Systems has turned our cable off and are telling that I owe them $255.00 plus 40.00 to get turned back on. They say that they pay Direct TV then I pay them but I've only ever received one bill in the mail from them before. So basically they want me to pay them what I've already paid direct TV. I paid my bill this month almost 300.00 and my service was cut off, they called direct tv and put a password on my account so I can't even access it. So I paid my bill for nothing.

Customer Service
i am making this complaint about Direct Tv on Christmas morning because my service was shut off
due to customer service issue. I spoke to a representation who gave me an extension to pay my pass due
balance on 12/27/09, but before I was able to pay my service was shut off. The representative Rob
Badge #407453 out of Oklahoma was very unprofessional in resolving my issue. Instead of having me
pay the pass due balance to restore my service, he would only restore service if the full balance was
paid. I told him that the only reason why I was not able to pay by the original due date was because
I lost my job, but hed did not care and he inssisted that I pay the full amount in order to restore my service.

I let him know how disappointed I was that he could not honor my past due payment considering the
representative had misinform me of the date that I could pay before a shut off occured. Rob had no
symphathy at all. I left Time Warner Cable after 16 years to try Direct TV and that was the biggest
mistake I made. The only thing I like about the service is that they offer the NFL ticket. As soon as
my contract is over I will no longer return I will subscribe to AT&T or the Dish Network.

Unauthorized Charges
Called in August 09 to cancel my account, was told that I would be charged $160 for early termination. This was the only charge I was informed of and I agreed. The agent said I would receive a box to ship back the receivers in 6-10 days. The box did not come until the middle of December and on 12/17 I discovered a charge for $408 from Directv on my checking account which overdrew my account close to $100. I called Directv and was told that my account wasn't canceled and that the agent had put in the notes that "I called to cancel, but refused and would call back." This is an obvious lie, why would I call to cancel then refuse. I know from experience that agents at some companies are docked in pay for canceling an account so I had my suspicions as to why my account really wasn't canceled. I asked the supervisor if agents are docked for canceling accounts Directv and he actually told me "yes." I asked why my account was charged without my permission for more than the $160 I was quoted and he stated they don't need my permission as I signed a contract that permits them to do this. I was told that I would receive a refund for the receivers but not for 6-8 weeks. When I asked to speak with his superior I was told that this was impossible, so I called back and was told by another supervisor the same thing. I asked if they would be able to expedite the refund so I did not incur anymore overdraft fees and they said it was also impossible.

I called my bank to dispute the charges and they were able to speak with Directv and have the refund expedited and also reversed my overdraft fees. Apparently a 3rd party bank has more pull than a paying customer, imagine that.

For anyone who reads this, do yourself a favor and don't sign up with Directv. They are deceptive, lie and don't care at all about the customer and if you try to cancel don't expect any cooperation whatsoever on their part.

Like George Carlin said "it's all bull$hit and it's bad for ya"

Installation screw up
I am the landlord of 2 mobile homes bothe of which have direct tv. One had a problem with their dish that was on a pole. THe installer went and screwd the new one to the side of the mobile home and caused the window top leak. When I called them they told me that I had to get a professional estimate on the repairs and send photos when all I wanted them to do is move the dish. I was told that if they send someone to move the dish I have to pay $50 for them to do it and I could claim that on the claim I send them. Personally I am not going to let them install on any more properties and am recommend to all landlords that if they do let them install that they insist on being present and have them explain exactly what they are going to do before they do it.

Service and Customer Service
Direct TV = Worst Customer Service EVER
I have never in my life dealt with such poor customer service

You have to file a BBB complaint to get anything done and then the office of the presidency will contact you.

Please file complaints, they have no right to boast having the best customer service around.

The Sales Call promised us bundling and NFL ticket at an incredibly low rate. NOT TRUE any of it except the actual service. Called to cancel and was told I had to have canceled in 24 hours and it had been 27. Fought with them for 4 weeks and after 3 (3!) BBB complaints, the office of the presidency finally called me. they reviewed my original call and realized they were wrong and everything they told me was a lie.
They agreed to let me out of the contract but are still forcing me to pay the bill for the services that I did not want!! they cant eat the 1 bill when they have all the records showing how much I fought this and did not want this b/c it was all a lie!!
Now they say I have to pay the bill that I was forced to have in b/c they have NO ESCALATION PATH and the ONLY way to get any traction is to file BBB complaints.
I will be filing complaints everyday until they listen, I should not have to pay for a service I didnt want and was forced to keep.

And BTW if you are contacted by the office of the presidency and you get Erin as your rep, good luck, she is awful too.
File BBB complaints!!!

damaged house
The installer drilled through a wall and cut house wiring cable. The supervisor came and said he can fix it by splicing it back together. I said "No, that illegile, therefore the whole wire needs to be replaced back to each box. Then she said that their insurance will not cover that. If I wanted to, get an an enstiment and summit to their office. Meantime we have not power in 3 rooms. Not even where the tv is installed. What is my rights?

customer service
Direct Tv applied our Aug 09 payment to someone else bill, we were harassed and treated poorly for non-payment, they refused to look into the possibility of there mistake. Had to go to our bank ( take time off work) and ask for research.
Found Direct Tv payment cashed by them but after fax still had to pay bill as they said it took 10 days to put in the system ( ridiculous!)I faxed finance department, emailed the CEO and finally, through calls reached a woman who supposedly was head of these matters and sent copies and letter to Office of President P>O> Box 6550 Greenwood Valley Co. 80155 as she requested. That was over one month ago and have heard absolutely nothing! Direct TV had our payment (irregardless of what they did with it) for over 3 months . They merely credit our account without any acknowledgment of the mistake after we faxed the cxl. check in there own sweet time/delay. We had to pay twice for services until credit and prove at our own cost that we paid. I felt we should have been given one month free service for the horrible treatment and lack of any communication. Anyone who opens a Direct TV account will find out that they are dealing with a company that is faceless and you are nothing more to them but $...

unautorized charges on debit card
let my niece use my debit card to make a $21 payment to Direct TV and the representative that took the payment understood it was a one time use only. She also agreed that no other charges would come off my card. When my niece later lost her job and could not pay her bill they sent her boxes to return the units and on the same day she received the boxes, Direct TV debited my card for $899.48. My information was retained even after the representive agreed not to use the info but for that one time only.
After a great many calls to customer service and 2 times faxing all my bank account info to the dispute dept to prove it was my card. I was told that they would not ever refund the charges to me. I started this on 12/1/09 and was told on 12/18/09 they would not even consider returning my money. They retained the info and it did not matter who's info it was they will bill any card info they get! This is right at Christmas and they took every penny I had! I do not have a Direct TV account nor will I ever have a Direct TV account! How can this be legal? How can this be right? Direct TV have become the modern day "Scrooge". They told me in no uncertain terms "They do not care"!

Poor customer service and failure to honor contract
Because of difficulty with Comcast I switched to Direct TV. I opened two accounts, each with rebates, billed to one address. I have had problems with ordering, problems with installation, problems with proper billing. After numerous emails and phone calls I felt all was as presented. Recently, I discovered the rebates are not being honored on one of the accounts and charges have increased . Despite numerous emails, with Direct TV repeatedly acknowledging my "rare" situation, no one will take the time, interest, and concern to correct the situation. I am not requesting special treatment---I simply want and deserve what I contracted for and what I spent hours
attempting to be certain was filed properly. The accounts were contracted at the same time; only one is as ordered. I am totally frustrated and was offered information about terminating my account instead of attempting to resolve the issue. This, of course, does nothing to correct my overpayments or acknowledge all of my wasted time trying to correct this injustice.
