I received a charge for $307.62 from directv, hilarious as it may be, I do not even have an account with Directv. I alled the number listed on my bank acct statement, they transferred me to Finanial operations where the rude rep Karen was to no avail. Couldnt tell me why/what/how...NOTHIN. Was given a fax # to fax my bank acct/debit card #/all of my Personal info so they could research...she had the day and amount of the transaction (which is TODAY) ...and told not sure how long it would take, I then spoke with supervisor Vanessa, they are a bunch of jokes!!! I dont even have an acct with them...told me someone would contact me by phone, they have yet to call...THIS IS BULL!!! Lets report them to Better Business Bureau

Been harassed
In late March, 2009 ordered Direct TV and called to confirm and ask questions regarding Dish and installation date. I explained to them I wanted to get the HD satellite dish, but it would be about 1 month to finish getting the $$ together for the TV and I could only get the 4 receivers for now. We are seniors and we have to budget our money. They said no problem, I would still qualify for the $100 rebate, she even checked with her supervisor on it. They installed it on 4-03-09. I called again an ordered the 1 HD satellite dish for our new TV, paid approx $125.00 for it with credit card, and was informed that I would qualify for the $100.00 rebate offer since I was still considered a new customer. I was told the website to go to-print the rebate offer and send it in. I received a confirmation e-mail that it would take 6 - 8 weeks to process on Sat. Jun 23, 2009. I received a postcard on 7-9-09 that said I did not qualify for the rebate since I did not join with the requested new customer offer. I called Direct TV on 7-10-09 and was told that it was the wrong ID receiver number. He told me to call customer relations and so I called customer relations and talked to the lady who told me that the ID number has nothing to do with it. I had to order HD the very day I ordered the DirecTV. I first was guarantees the $100 rebate offer when I ordered it, I then was told it was wrong receiver number and then I was told Receiver number had nothing to do with it, I was not a new customer. This is out and out fraud, lying and deceiving the public. I am simply been harassed by them. Please stay away.

Identity theft
My ex-wife ordered Direct TV for her apartment, put it in my name, gave them my SS#, and her son forged my name. They installed the equipment without checking any identification. Then she never paid the bill. They called me in May of 07 saying I owed them $488. I told them it was not my bill, and they said it was because they had my signature on a contract. I told them it couldn't be my signature, and they told me I would have to prove it. I followed all the procedures for reporting fraud, sent letters everytime I was asked, explaining the situation. I spent an exorbitant amount of time on hold on the telephone, and was even hung up on once. I asked them for a copy of the signed contract. I was given a number to call to get it. The number was a recording at a text messaging service, and for a ten dollar fee, they would tell me information about the number I was calling. At this point, I was so disgusted I said to hell with it. Let them come after me. Well, here it is, two years later, and they are. I recieved a call from the law firm of Riddel and Wood, and given 48 hours to pay it or fax them a police report, and an affidavit of fraud. It will be faxed to them tomorrow. I have never in my life dealt with a more cold hearted, rude staffed, and outright lying company. I will not let this go at this point.

Overcharged greatly
I had Direct TV installed and I misunderstood the advertisement and I returned the receiver to Direct TV. By signing for the installation they say I agreed to a two year contract and charged my Mastercard $459.64 cancellation fee. Direct TV was installed on June 21 and cancelled on June 23rd.

Outrageous
On June 19, 2009 Direct TV removed $172.96 from my bank account without authorization. My mother was the person who had an account with Direct TV and in the past I had paid her bill using my bank account. My mother cancelled her Direct TV service. However, when I looked at my bank account on June 19th I discovered that they had taken the money from my bank account that they said she still owed them. When I paid my mothers bill I had always processed the transaction as a "one time only" payment because I didn't know if I was going to be the one paying her bill each time.
This is outrageous.
I contacted Direct TV and was told that I would have to fax them a copy of my bank statement showing the transaction and that my mother was not on the bank account. The problem was suppose to be resolved within 72 hours. When I called them again they said it would take 8 business days. Two weeks later I have not heard from them am getting the run around.
This company has ripped me off and something should be done about it. Not only have they taken $172.96 from me that I don't owe they also caused me to incur $105.00 worth of overdraft fees because of them charging me.
I am now in the process of having my bank handle this. But, I'm not holding my breath.

Poor work
I had DirectTV installed January 30, 2009, as of today, still it is not working. I have gone a total of 65+ days with no TV, but still I am expected to pay my monthly bill, not complain, wait for 3 weeks for the next individual to come and repair what the previous individual has done, one blaming the other and yet I have no TV - I have not been able to watch any news programs, listen to any music, I have never be able to get all the channels that come with my package. So when I finally called in after yet another day of no TV - I am walked through the process of can you check this for me, and check that and by the way, turn it off and then turn it on, reset the red button, and they do not listen to me, I have no TV - all I get is 'searching for satellite'. Now, I call yet again, and still I get nothing, I am asked again where is your dish located, how many cables do you have, are they connected, and the list goes on and on, after using 45 minutes of my cell time, finally I give up, I am told to wait for 3 weeks to have a service individual come and look at it (again!); when I let him know this is unacceptable, why am I being charged the full amount when I have yet to get one full month of service that I ordered in the beginning. So I am transfered to another department, oh yeah, I am going to get a $15 credit for going without TV for 3+ weeks, out of a 4 week period. Is this fair, I lost it and yet they don't get it. I wanted to cancel, and yet I am told I have to pay a penalty fee, why do I have to pay any penalty fee when I signed a contract for services I have yet to receive. If you are thinking of getting Direct TV - be prepared to get ripped off, to be treated with disrespect, to pay for services that you will never get, and to have service individuals in your house once a month blaming each other for poor work.

Customer Service
I have been a Direct TV customer for over 8 years. I have had problems with reception for over a year. Their techs told me they cannot find a "line of sight" to get reception for my dish, so I need to cancel and find another provider. Comcast can fill that need. I called Direct TV to take back their dish, cables, etc. They told me tonight that they will not remove any equipment for me--or even help me identify Direct TV cables that are strung all around my house so I can remove them myself. Although I am still paying for service and pay extra for their "protection plan, " they will not send a tech over to help me identify their products for removal. They told me to hire someone myself and pay for it myself. BUT, if they don't get their HD receivers back, they are going to charge me for anything I don't mail back. They refused to tell me the address of the local affiliate so that I can work with them directly. William, Tech #1828, refused to send me an email to confirm our conversation, tell me his full name, tell me his location or help me in any way resolve these issues. I did not want to cancel Direct TV, but clearly they do not want my business.
DO NOT BUY DIRECT TV SERVICE if at all possible. They screw you on the front end and the back end. Hmmmm.

Business & Billing Practices
I fulfilled my 2yr contract (2007 - 2009) and called to cancel, only to find out that when I updated my receiver to an HD receiver my contract was automatically renewed without my knowledge. At that time of conversation, this was not explained to me.It was not brought to my attention until I called to cancel. When I had the service installed, I had a HD satellite installed as we were having HD service then. It turned out I had HD service since 2007 (we also had a DVR installed at this time). Then in 2008 had another HD rec installed. This is what they say changes my contract. We feel since we already had HD Service since 2007, and when I called for another in 2008, we should not have to pay this. Also this was not mentioned to me in the phone conversation, about their change in contract.I have spoken to many customer service reps and they sided with me and one of them also told me that I should not be charged at all. The other ones I spoke to denied that anyone ever told me that.Rudely!, in that conversations. Therefore, money was automatically (almost $400.00) was taken out of my bank account, unauthorized.I told them on the phone that I would be sending a check for the amount even though I did not agree to the fact that I owed this. I was mislead and deceived.Their customer service is rude and degrading. Making me feel like it's all my fault when really they are not being ethical AT ALL! I returned the equipment and they sent me a bill which was marked final, now they told me they read the cards that were in the machines and told me I had PPV charges on them. I did not dispute the charges. I told them in 2 separate conversations that I would be sending a check for the amount due. But yesterday, They took out of my bank account, Unauthorized again, the amount. This is not good business practice, and I feel robbed and that anyone can take money from your account at any time. This is not right and infringes upon privacy, which a person is entitled to!!! I would never do business with Direct TV, ever again, even if they were the last TV service available, and would discourage other people from doing business with them. This is a horrible practice and a horrible company!!!

Took my money out of my personal bank
To Whom It May Concern;
I just recently ordered your bundle service package with Direct TV, Internet, Telephone. I have not had this service long. I called recently to cancel this contract due to the fact that you did not honor my part of the contract. I had multiple issues that never got resolved. I want you to remove any early cancellation charges and I do not to expect to owe you or Direct TV anything. You need to go back and access all of these problems that I have had with your company and consider payment in full . I will be sending your DVR and Receivers back to you immediately. Please read this list below to explain some of these issues.
My Internet was to slow and I couldn't even watch a news video it would freeze up. The connection was too slow. Then I would try to check my emails and it would freeze up. I would call in to try to get someone to [email protected] these problems and I would get to talk to people that I barely could understand and they barely understood me.
Every time my Internet would stop working so would my Home telephone. I have went for three days at a time without Internet and Telephone service. This happened all the time.
When I received my Direct TV bill it would be 3 times the price that was quoted to me on this contract. This service is two times more expensive than Time Warner.
Then when all of this is happening I get several of your contract persons out in my back yard digging to bury the cable. They came out on my property three different times and tore up my grass. I would go outside and ask why they kept on digging up my yard and they told me that they were instructed to dig this cable by AT&T .When I contacted AT&T they had me to talk to their Risk Management Department, they took my complaint gave me a confirmation number and as of date nothing has been resolved.
Then Direct TV goes in my personal Bank and gets out 538.12 out of my checking account without my authorization. I did not give them permission. I called Direct TV and asked them why they took my money out without my approval and they told me that when I first signed up they took my debit card information and that I knew according to their policy that gives them permission to get the money owed to them if I cancel services early. I had no knowledge of this policy, and certainly didn't give permission to them to do this . This act is criminal. No merchant should have the right to go in your personal bank unless you authorize the payment. I want you to know that I went ahead and filed a police report. because this is nothing more than stealing from my personal account.
I also would like to point out that does this mean for example that if someone owes a electric bill and because the electric company has your debit card information on file from previous payments they can go in my personal Bank and pay the bill without my authorization of course not only crooked companies will do this. I want my money refunded to me immediately.
I also asked Direct TV to get their company to come and get the dish off my roof. I do not expect to be charged for that.
Sincerely,
Nancy Robison
