Dish Network Reviews

lies told to me/over charging/rotten P.R.
I have called Dish Network 4 -6 times regarding over billing, not honouring the contract. I have emailed 4 times to either let me know where to drop off the boxes or set a date and time to pick them up. I want the whole "service" out of my house but I get no response. I had to cancel my debit card so they would stop billing me. Quite obviously this is a scam and they are allowed to cheat the public. How can this be stopped and how can other people be warned about the farce of a Dish Network?

Poor Customer Care
I'm writing to clearly express my TOTAL dissatisfactin with the customer service experience that I have recieved with Dish Network. I have been with Dish for OVER 15 YEARS. Never missed a payment, and on 2 seperate occasions I have scheduled a technical visit for upgrades and NO ONE SHOWED UP!!! Even after my recent experience and talking with Alex Operator ID KKW who is supposed to be a supervisor and another manager there answer was simply that there was nothing they could do. Even after explaining how I had taken the day off work and loss wages waiting around for an installer. I wish there was a way I could sue DISH for loss of wages. In fact when I threatned to leave DISH Alex was eager to accept my offcer to cancel my service. I can't wait until my obligation is over with DISH I will be leaving and going to AT&T U verse. Hopefully they will value me as a customer because clearly DISH does not!

crappy service
It started with customer service out and out lying to us about what channels we would receive if we signed up. We found we had no choice but to upgrade once the service was installed to recieive the acceptable minimum channels.
Every single bill that we have received has been wrong. We always have to call and go through their terrible, incompetent customer service department to correct each bill. One of the bills we received was entirely in spanish.
Every time we find it NECESSARY to upload the Guide, we lose our service completely.
We hate Dish TV and are now stuck with it for 2 years unless we're able to pay $300.00 for cancellation. DO NOT GET DISH TV >>

Incompetent Customer Service
I recently called Dish Network for my parents and what a HASSLE! Not one customer service rep speaks proper english there. I notice on commercials and even the website everyone speaks English, but when you call they don't understand what your talking about. I was being apologized to for trying to explain what we wanted. HELLO!! On top of it she was interrupting what I was trying to say. Saying sorry. What were they trained to only say certain words.
The second part of my complaint is my parents had dish network years ago and fulfilled their FULL commitment. Paid on time every month and at the end called to cancel. My mother was asked what they could do to keep her business. They offered her a free month to try it out one more month. She was asked to keep service for at least one more month. So my mother said ok...sure. Well, after the month she decided not to keep service and cancelled. So here it is 2 years later and my mother wants some sort of cable. I had to hang up with one woman I was talking to, because I couldn't understand her. I thought maybe I was talking to a robot. Anyway, come to find out that because 2 years ago my mom had that extra month she was supposed to be on a contract and because she didn't fulfill it would have to pay hundreds of dollars for all the equipment to get it hooked up. I now have her signed up for Direct Tv...so far so good. Everyone speaks english, way better customer service and very friendly. We shall see if anything changes over time. I suggest Dish Network hires only workers who speak english(for the US anyway) and know what they are doing. I can without a doubt say even if it wasn't for the contract problem, I would not of had my parents get DN for the customer service alone. IDIOTS!!!

Refund
I signed up for Dish Network at the S C Kiosks both at Sam's Club in Gainesville, Florida with the understanding that I would get local network channels. I paid a $59.87 charge at the time of the sale. Dish Network was unable to provide me with local or any other network channel so I canceled the contract and was told that I would receive a refund of the fee paid at Sam's for the service. I took my receipt to them( S C kiosks) and was told that I had to request the refund before the end of 30 days by the salesman. This was the first time that this was disclosed to me and he said that it is stated on the back of the receipt. The receipt states that I have 30 days to return a product but nothing about a refund for services not provided. Next step is the Corp. office.

crappy service
Dish network is run by people who are morons. They lie when the truth would be much better. They're call center is a bunch of rug makers that can't even speak the king's english. Getting the run-a-round in a 24hr. period, I'm ready to shove this dish box where the sun doesn't shine...my advice to people ...DO NOT USE DISH NETWORK SERVICES.

lousy service
Dish Network runs a very shoddy business. To get information you call and get a call center in Pakistan...and barely make out the information you're receiving from the individual. I wasted a whole day being lied to...saying a technician was on his way. At 10:00 at night I call to see if they're coming as I was told...and the guy told me the technician came and I wasn't here. I came unglued. I dare they treat me like this. If anyone reads this...take my advice...DO NOT DEAL WITH DISH NETWORK...

unauthorized billing
Beware- First thing they do is get your credit card number- which they say "is needed to approve you". Then they've got you: They will debit your c.c with any amount they want!
My suggestion is, if possible pay in check or money order if they will take such..
I responded to an internet ad stating 14.95 for 'bronze level' service with free hookup.
Almost immediatly received a bill for half a month's service totaling $65.00.
Just as quickly I called to stop service:
Since I hadn't signed a contract with them - NOTHING IN WRITING, I called and spoke with 3 different 'customer' service reps (all apparently located in India).
Each rep said there was no such 19.95 plan, that they were looking at the current internet ad of $39.00.for bronze. What a terrible way to treat a customer, to call them a liar!

I returned their devices, including the OUTSIDE dish as they REQUIRED, even tho I am a five foot female senior.
For my trouble they debited my credit card for $250.
Why? Because they could! They had my c.c. number.

Now, I have a copy of the internet ad (I saved it/printed it) and as well, they do not have a copy of any contract, since I didn't sign anything. Plus I have proof that the devices were received by them.
Still yet, they have free end to debit your c.c. I am still fighting the unauthorzed charge and have written the Gov's Office of Consumer Affairs in my state.

Apparently Cable TV is a big one and they receive many complants regarding cable tv, since they have that complaint in it's own 'compartment'.

Reading the complaints here this is a way of life for this company.

My advice is if you're dead-set on getting Dish Network or Direct tv,
save the ad you responded to, refuse to sign any contract, and pay by any means other than your c.c. These companies are getting away with scamming the poorest of the poor and something needs to be done about it!

Inappropriate Business process and lies
I signed up the Dish network service by calling its website number. First, i just wanted to sign up the basic, but the representives tried very hard to sell me the premium and DVR service, he told me that i can switch the service anytime, just tried it and i can change or cancel it in 90 days.

With these 90 days, i tried the DVR once and didn't think that i would need to use it. So i called the dish network on the day 89 and wanted to cancel it. The representives told me that i need to pay $150 for changing the DVR equipment to the basic one if i cancel the DVR service, i explained to him that the part of informance was not communicated to me and if he can retrieve my call at the time of signing up the service, he can find out how the sale representives didn't disclose this information, he said that he can just half the $150 and i signed up with the retail and there are different rules, there is nothing he can do. I was very angry because i feel that i was tricked to make a decision without all the disclosure. So he transferred my call to the specialist, i explained my situation, she told me that she can waive the $150, but my monthly bill will go up due to the change.

I can not believe the dish network - a big company will have this kind of inappropriate business process. I feel very betrayed and angry. Now it's not the matter of $150, it's the way that they trick people to sign up/ upsell the service without disclosing all information, then adding additional cost /pricing strategy when you change the service. if all information were correctly disclosed to me, I will not be this surprised and mad. For a big company, it does this kind of scam, is not ethinal and no integrity.

I went online and read many complains about the same kind of issue. Someone has to stop this!

Call in and they would send the form this is a scam call 6 to 8 times never got anything in mail was told to do it online but never given correct code . This is what is wrong with America now so much dis- honesty. Well take that 100.00 dollars time millions of people this is a big fraud and just a way to raise our bills again. when is it going to stop it, s happing in housing loans by banks, water companies, electric co. people should not be able to put what ever interest rates they want there should be one and one only.
