Dish Network Reviews

Horrible customer service
I've been having an ongoing problem with my Dish Network service. I get intermittent long bursts of visual and auditory static, and the colour often reverts to black and white. I have been trying to correct the problem with the Dish Network customer service dept., and have had all kinds of horrible interactions, from waiting on the phone for someone to pick up, rude employees, one of whom refused to let me speak with a supervisor and actually hung up on me, and having the automated service CHANGE my service appt. window without my permission or notifying me. I can't seem to get anyone to address my problem. I am thinking of switching to Direct TV.

Alleged collection
Atlas Communications Systems, Inc. has put me into collections for an account that I owe nothing on, per Dish Network. I am receiving threating phone calls from a collection agency for $330.00 which they say that I owe to Atlas Communications Systems, Inc. and that if I don't pay it, this debt will remain on my credit report for 7 years. I was told by the collection agency to have Dish Network contact Atlas to straighten this out. They do not have any information about this company any more. They asked me to contact Atlas and to have them call Dish so that this matter can be straightened out and that my name would be removed from collections. I am asking that you please do this. I tried to reach the number on my Agreement with Atlas so that I could personally request this, but the number has been disconnected. The collection agency was also unable to give me a phone number for Atlas. I do understand that Atlas did file for bankruptcy. Will you please reply to this so that I know that you will contact Dish Network and get this matter straightened out.

Thank you,
Roxann Gagan.

High bill and broken promises
The company offered a $100 sign on gimmick. It was forgotten. When it was installed, the 100 Channels offered did not include Fox News and some other channels. "I have to have O'Reilly news, " I said so they added the next 100 channels that included Fox News. Now, I have 200 channels but of which are duplicates. In all the 200 channels, there are 20, maybe 21, that I watch. This does not include National Geographic or any Western channels, the latter was specifically asked for. There are western channels but that only means they are shown in the west! My first bill totaled $109.99 with a $39.99 adjustment taken out and $6.79 in taxes added. They advertise a $19.99 monthly charge. I wonder if anyone has ever had that charge. Is there somewhere else I can go to complain?

Horrible billing & pricing scams
Horrible business practices. I was lured by decent pricing deals they advertised only to find out that after 6 months, it is virtually impossible to get the price they advertised. I made a 2nd career out of submitting rebate forms for "bundled DSL" through ATT for a $100 credit on Dish Bills. They refused after I met all the qualifications. Also called about 6 times about added programming charges on my bill, so watch out for $5 per receiver "programming access fees" they will charge these fees as though your receivers are not connected to working telephone lines- EVEN IF THEY ARE CONNECTED TO WORKING PHONE LINES!

I just canceled 6 mo into an 18 month contract because I got so mad every time I got their bill and I was overcharged. I will miss the choice of channels and great DVR, but at least my cable company tells me up front how horribly overpriced their service is, and the bill is consistent- no cheap rip-off pricing policies! Also nice to have Cable internet back. DSL was HORRIBLE slow.

By the way- 2 days after I canceled Dish I received a call from a Sales Specialist offering to make me a deal to stay with them. DON'T BE SHY if you are getting ripped-off by Dish. Just cancel and you'll get what you wanted- Apparently. I had already signed up for Cable again. Dish is PATHETIC in the practices they use in their advertising, billing and policies.

Headache
3 times now I have tried to pay my acct online from cking acct -each time they couldn’t find my acct-meaning extra charges for them-how come every other bill I pay online from cking goes thru and dish network cant find my cking acct? Makes you wonder! Anyway they won’t have to look for it anymore. This time the first man said it was insufficient funds. I paid with cr card then thought about what he said and called them back since our accts are all tied so that there is no such thing as insuf funds. The gal said oh no it was not insuf funds, but they could not access my acct. I made the pmt on the 11th and kept cking my cking acct to make sure it cleared. All I got from them last wk was oh it is fine. Now this wk it is a different story.

And further more she would not let me talk to someone higher up and then she cut me off!

Poor service
I have been a dish network customer for over 3 years. Last night my 3 year-old son ordered a UFC fight on pay-per-view and I called immediately to cancel the event.

We have never ordered anything like that but we do frequently order movies. After 30 mins of being told they will not refund the $49.99+tax, they finally said they would if I would put a code on my PPV account. After agreeing to these terms they informed me I can no longer order movies from the TV- I have to call and they will charge an additional $5.00 for the PPV events. No wonder DirecTV is #1 in customer satisfaction!!!

False Statments to Sell Service
I purchased a Dish Satellite for my secondary home in Tomah. I presently had Cable, but this home is only used in the summer. I called around to find different alternatives to cable. When calling Dean’s Satellite Service in Sparta. I was spoke to Roxanne Leis (Residential Sales), she explained the advantages of Satellite vs. Cable. The selling point is that during the months I am not occupying the house I can suspend service being this in not my primary house. When I called in December of 2007 to inform Dish Network that I was suspending service because of a water pipe break in the house. I was informed that option is not offered and the only way to suspend service is after my 18-month contract is over. I explained to Dish Network that Dean’s Satellite Service offered that option to sell the contract. Then to my surprise, Dish Networks Manager informed me that they are not responsible how the product is sold and have no control over false statements provided by thevendors to sell the contract. I called Dean’s Satellite to express my dissatisfaction and get an explanation why I am being charged $300 dollars for cancelling my contract when the sale person sold me the contract under false claims. The sale person could only apologies for misinterpreting the contract. I also was charged $200.00 dollars from Dish Network for canceling my service.

DON'T BUT DISH NETWORK
I am a "Storm Trooper" (Independent Insurance Catastrophe Adjuster). While working hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma I decided to get "Dish Network" as an addition to my camper since RV parks are the only lodging availibilities after a catastrophe. I bought the equipment and paid 1 year in advance for my service. My service was very poor to say the least. First I had to deal w/disclaimers on the faulty equipment that was discovered to be the cause. After 3 months of No Service I was sent new equipment that fixed the problem. At the the end of my year of service I started having reception problems again (no service). I called and cancelled. Tech support helped straiten out the problem and the service worked for another 2 1/2 days. I called and cancelled again and was told that I was given a credit for 3 months due to the time my service did not work. I told them my equipment did not work and I had enough. Please cancel! I thought it was all over until I received a bill for $31.88 for the remainder of the third month that was not covered under the credit they gave me and continued even though I cancelled the service. I disputed the bill, asked that my account be evaluated inclusive of my service complaints and reuested a return call with an explanation for the $31.88. I told them if they could show I owed the money I would pay it. Instead of getting a call back from them, I got a call from a collection agency. I called Dish Network back and inquired why I was sent to a credit agency. Their VERY COLD Customer Service Center said it was because I owed the money and did not pay the bill. I again asked them to explain the bill and all they could do was quot invoices. I asked why the service was not cancelled and was told it was due to the credit they issued me. I explained my position on the poor service and the No Service but they DID NOT CARE! I had to pay the $33.88 to have it removed from the collection agency. I requested that it be removed from the credit bureau since it HAS affected my credit score. They refused saying they would only show it paid. It is on the credit eport because THEY did not call me back to explain the bill. It is on my credit report because THEY did not cancel my service when I requested. It is on my credit report because THEY are not responsible for service quality/no service. My system was out much longer than the credit I received but THEY are in control of that. THEY can have the information removed (it's easy) but refuse to do so because THEY have NO FAULT and really DON'T CARE!

Past bill from Dish Network
Pegusus (A Dish Network Company) was overcharging me on a monthly basis for Satellite TV subscription Services through Dish Network. They promised me Local Channels, and HBO which I never received for the whole nine months I was with them. Furthermore, the Bill was always over $10-$20.00 every month, for which I had to call every month to get it straightened out. So, I finally Canceled the Subscription after getting ripped off, and I found out that Pegusus went bankrupt. Thats when the harassments starting happening; I called Pegusus and Dish Network, and asked them to pick up their old equipment, and they never Did. I called several times, trying to clear this up; They Never Did. Now, they have sold the dept to ER Solutions, who just make threating Phone Calls. SO, I WANT TO KNOW WHO TO SUE!
