Terrible everything!
I have been reading complaints on here about dish for the last 2 yrs & I think that I have experienced everyone of them. This is the only leverage that I have found with Dish: contact their Consumer Protection Agency. For IL. it is:
Governors Office of Citizens
Assistance 222South College rm 106
Springfield, IL. 62706
800-642-3112
217-782-0244.
This is an older book that I got this info from, so call & verify info & then send letters. When they didn't refund my $100 I had to go after Envoke which did their refunds, They quickly got me my money to me, & Envoke told the Indiana A.G. that Dish were conning people & that they were no longer processing their refunds because of this. For some strange reason Dish doesn't want the Attorney General looking at them. If they have ripped you off please send the A.G. a letter, what do you have to lose & if they get enough letters, maybe they will do something. Also if they have removed money from your account contact their State Banking Authority should be able to get the info from your bank.

Fraudulent charges!
We had a bad receiver they told us to ship it back and they sent us a new one, this was in Dec 2007, then in Feb 2008. I had a charge on my bill for a damaged receiver, i called they said the receiver i sent back had an insect infestation, but could not tell me what insect. They made up a lie to get money. Beware of this company!

They wasted my house!
Finally after many years this past May 2007 we bought our first house. Great! Wouldn’t you think? Well, not exactly, Dish Network managed to perforate a water line inside of my house during the system installation (2nd day living there). Imagine this unexpected fountain running for one hour on our brand new home. I’m not going to mention everything that was wasted, but just for all of you to get an idea, around 35,000 was the amount of the damage. Around 20,000 have been paid so far, and still waiting for the rest. We paid for the rest on repairs, expecting to receive the other sum shortly. Common, Dish is a great company, who would expect them to fool a CUSTOMER, right? Wrong.
Obvious, this is even affecting my credit history because the debt is in two credit cards.
Echostar insurance company is ESIS, and they really have no intention on paying the rest, they have been just making time to see if I get bored with the situation (thing that will not happen). ESIS has passed the situation over to a contractor, that even though he is a great person, he doesn’t even have the authority or means to solve my problem.
Yes, I have spoken with almost everyone in Echostar and the last answers were that “they are no longer responsible for this, and that my complaint is already closed”. Even I thought, I’ll write a letter to Charles W. Ergen, Founder/CEO/Chairman of the board/Director, this ought to do the trick (4 letters now). No official answer or solution or even pressure to ESIS for a reaction.
It’s a shame that a company such a Dish Network (Echostar) really doesn’t care about his own customers, and being myself on the communication industry, I really don’t understand why they don’t care about negative Public Relations that someone can create with a situation like this. Believe me, 11 months it’s a lot of time for me to share my experience with everyone. Thank god for Internet, it’s great for people to get informed.
And for service, what can I tell you, even the service that I contracted supposedly It was free for 1 year (after sending all the required documents, which I did) well, they been charging me all of this time. Looks like the only real solution, is only through lawyers, it’s a real shame, it could be such a great product.
Please, don’t fall into the same mistake I did.

Scam and cheating!
Our service with Dish Network was canceled in Fall 2007 due to an inability of timely on-site repair service. At that time, we were told by Dish Network that the equipment must be returned and a carton would be forwarded. We were very agreeable to packaging and returning the equipment and have been waiting patiently for the packaging and a shipping address.
On or about January 30, 2008, we received the first of several calls from The CBE Group, Inc. informing us that we owed $108.50, which had been turned over to collections by Dish Network. Never, in my 68 years have I ever dealt with a collection agency and was amazed to learn how unbelievably rude and insulting they can be.
Dish Network was immediately contacted and I spoke with “Amy” in the Accounting Department, who was very rude and unhelpful when I tried to explain that we were waiting on packaging and a shipping address. It was my impression that Amy was aware that the company had not followed through, as she became very defensive and abusive.
On Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, UPS delivered a prepaid box from Dish Network. On Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, UPS delivered a second box. A box has now been packed with the requested equipment and will be shipped via UPS; the second empty box will be returned upon request. Due to lack of dependence in the company, we have photographed the contents of the UPS box. All required equipment has been shipped.
Our reward for many years as a long-term Dish Network customer, with never a late payment or an on-site service call, is to suffer verbal abuse from a collection company and the Dish company employee regarding an account for which we are not responsible. As someone at Dish Network obviously did not follow through with this account, we expect an apology and this not be reflected on our credit rating.
Jean.

Terrible service!
I had a technical issue Error 024 and called in. The rep told me to reset the receiver and wait 15 minutes and rushed to get me off of the telephone. Her name was Jessica and she could not give me an employee ID. After 20 minutes I called back due to the same error and spoke with a Lupe. She had me repeat what the rep prior rep had me do and when I brought this to her attention she disconnected me on purpose. She was reading from a script and it turns out your 'Highly trained technicians are not so highly trained.
I have thus spent 45 minutes on hold between 3 callbacks and am considering reverting back to cable television.

Terrible service!
DISH network is choosing NOT to air Noggin 24 hours a day as it became available on January 1. Their stated reasoning is that they believe continuing to run the Noggin programming for 12 hours, (6 AM to 6 PM) and then switching to N network, a compilation of old shows more suitable for young pre-teens, is the better choice for their customers. I spoke with a supervisor and passed along my strong disagreement about the quality of the N network and noted that the Noggin programming was the quality they should be bringing to their customers. I encourage other parents to call or write DISH to express their own disappointment in such poor decision making for their viewers with pre-school kids.

Double charge (billing) and rude support!
I just got charged TWICE a big amount of my bill. My bill is still outstanding on their stupid website and I got charged twice, plus they told me it will take 7 to 10 BUSINESS DAYS to get a refund. After I asked for a supervisor, some kind of rude dog talked to me asking not to interrupt him while he was the first who interrupted me. He told me that I pressed the pay button twice while I never do that, because I'm a professional webmaster. I'm sure I did NOT press their stupid button twice.
Guess what, now Dish Network blocked me from reaching their customer service. When I call them, the line goes silent and then nothing. So I'm even unable to get my money back. Finally I found a different number (1-888 instead of 1-800) and the girl who identified herself to me as "Angel" she told me they refunded the extra charge (Dish tried to overcharge me twice and that's an apparent scam/fraud by Dish!) and that it will take 7 to BUSINESS days for me to get the money back! That's way too long. I asked her why they charged me 5 times bigger fee than the phone rep. told me before, but she hung up on me. I was hung up on by Dish Nerdwork SOOO MANY TIMES, that this is my last time I deal with them...
I quit and will never use dishnetwork again. I'm going to get cable. Finally I will be able to get the local weather and no more daily disconnections and monthly attempts of adding some unauthorized fees to my account.

Dishonest business practices!
07/06:Upgraded from standard definition to hi-def service.Contacted Dish for disposition of old SD receiver. Reply-would send return shipping kit. Kit never received, contacted Dish again-Reply-"Don't worry about it".Odd! Stored old SD receiver 3 months to assure wasn't charged for it, then discarded the receiver.
11/07: Canceled Dish contract. Dished informed me they would send shipping kit for return of HD receiver & LNB. I received the kit and returned the items. Two weeks later I received another kit, supposed it was a duplicate.
01/08: Received a Dish bill for $200; 1 LNB & 1 SD receiver!Contacted Dish. Their reply- No recourse, owed the bill. Contacted Dish again telling them they could check the bill of lading to prove I shipped the LNB. That charge was rescinded. I then was transferred to a supervisor then to an exec on the SD receiver charge. Her explanation: My conversations of 07/06 did not relieve me of liability. They assumed I was still using the old receiver. The second shipping kit I received in 11/07 was for the SD receiver. They were partially correct about their assumption; I used the old SD receiver 3 months for a boat anchor.

Unauthorized charges!
I had Dish Network installed last spring. I was given the usual promise of free installation, if I sent in the proper paperwork to the proper place within a specified time, and 3 months of my choice of movie channels. I missed the deadline on the installation rebate and just as they counted on I forgot to call to remove Starz after my trial period was up. I finally got around to canceling these channels and have been told there is a $5 fee of changes to the account unless it is for a upgrade or addition.
That is absurd!

Complaints not allowed!
I had a really bad experience with Dish when I moved my service to a new house. I won't go into the details, but it took 4 tries for them to get things working - for no good reason. I called to make sure that I would not be billed for the week that my service was unavailable. I was told that the bill would be the same as it is always is. I asked how this could be possible, and then the operator said that I wasn't charged for the move, so it all kind of worked out anyway! I pointed out that it was his company's policy to allow one free move a year, and I asked him to explain why that would have anything to do with paying for service that I did not receive. He had no reasonable explanation but I was going to be billed anyway. I then asked if I could be transferred to someone to register a complaint. He asked if everything was working properly at this point in time, and I said yes - it is now. Then he said "well there's really nothing to complain about then, right?". At that point, I hung up. After missing work so many days and going through so many calls to be told this by the agent on the phone is simply unbelievable. When a company does not even want to hear about a customer's negative experiences, I know there will be more of them to come. I know compared to others, I'm getting off easy, however, I'm very much looking forward to the end of my contract.
