Installers of a window in my newly fitted kitchen stood on the granite counter top (despite having a ladder to use) and cracked the granite in two places. When I spoke to the company owner the next day (a Saturday) he said he was so sorry and he was 'committed to fixing this for me'. By Monday they had done an about face and refused to pay for the damage which totalled R6000 and said that the quote excludes 'consequential damages'. Lawyers told me this is not consequential damages but gross negligence. They were rude and unethical and slammed down the phone twice while I was trying to appeal to them to do the right thing.
