In 11/05 - 02/08, we had a porch built on our home in NY by a contractor. It was incomplete and shoddily done. We complained to the local County Consumer Affairs and a decision was made to have the contractor repay us the money needed to complete the job & resolve shoddy work. The case was sent to the local County AG Office for collection in June 2008 and we are still awaiting resolution of the matter. The contractor cannot be found and it appears that the law has no teeth. It would be somewhat just to have this contractor exposed nationally for the scamp that he is.
