I responded to a mail ad regarding mortgage loan modification from Fidelity Law Group. I was visited by an attorney from the group who convinced me that he could get my mortgage loan modified to a lower rate and a lower balance, as the house is mortgaged for more than it is worth. The fee for Fidelity's services was $2, 000.00. That was in August. From August to December, I heard nothing from Fidelity except two letters telling me that they moved their office. The last letter told of an "industry" change and that attorney Michael Schunk has moved out of Fidelity and taken my file with him. Attempts to contact Schunk have failed. I have since learned that Fidelity is a chameleon company that Schunk formed that has gone through several metamorphoses from Veritas to Fidelity to Southwestern Law. He takes the client's fee and promises to negotiate a modification with the client's mortgage lender. After receiving the second "industry change" letter, I called my mortgage lender (Wells Fargo) and they have never heard of Fidelity nor Mr. Schunk, nor are they aware of any attorney's attempts to negotiate a modification on my behalf; a modification which they, Wells Fargo, have resoundingly rejected. I am now involved in a short sale of my house which I will definitely lose in the coming months. Beware of these fraudulent, unethical legal leeches.
