snapping off of the touch pad on water dispenser

I purchased my new frigidaire refrigerator just a little over a year ago. The touch pad on the water dispenser snapped off when I was getting a glass of water. I am 70 years old and there are no children in the house to abuse it. -how could this happen? Has anything like this happened to anyone else? I have tried several times to contact the company by email and have not had one response. Can you help me? Thank you

Poor quality product!

I purchased a refrigerator model # FRS26ZRGWA in 2000 from Lowes in Cincinnati,OH. 7 yrs, later the thing is completely shot. I paid over $1000 for the piece of garbage. When it went out I lost over $750 worth of food. It appears that the defrost heater exploded and put a hole in my evaporator. The repair thought it could be fixed at first but then after he assessed the damage he told me it would be better to buy a new unit. I was told by the sale person not to buy any Fridgdaire products because they don't hold up. I sent a complaint to Electrolux to see how they will react. My advice to any consumers out there thinking of buying Fridgidaire products don't they are pure JUNK!!!
