Fubar would be better if they required a "Salute" (a picture of you with member ID) as a condition of membership. The site is overloaded with people without salutes who are more than likely misrepresenting themselves. I like to know that I'm communicating with the person that their picture represents. The site was fun for about two months; I made it up to level 25, had 550 plus friends but started to realize the futility and pointlessness of it all. It is actually more a game than a social networking site because the goal is to rack up points and be popular rather than to really get to know people. Basically, the more friends and fans you have the more points you get. On Fubar you are basically using people for what they can do for you, i.e., “I’ll become your fan and rate your profile and photos a 10 if you do the same for me”.
Of the almost 600 friends I had, there were less than 20 I chatted with on a regular basis. As a male, I enjoyed communicating with attractive females but most were married, in a relationship, or lived hundreds of miles away. The majority of the real hotties on the site were virtual strippers wanting you to pay to look at the "goods". It's unfortunate because I see fubar turning into another pay for sleaze site but that is where the money is I suppose. Also, if you want to move up to higher levels be prepared to pay real money for it. Fubar also has the typical Mafia games, etc. but I don't do the game thing so I can't comment on that.
Overall, the site is fun for people who are into the virtual relationship thing but be warned, it is also very addicting. When you recognize the hours wasted staring hypnotized at the computer screen, the futility of chatting with people you will never meet, the craziness of paying money to be popular and the entire shallowness of it all; you will probably delete your account like I did. Don't let the real world pass you by.
