Salesman took our $1000 deposit on 7/11/08. Chk was cashed 7/22. Work was supposed to be done on 8/4. Roofing supplies were delivered on 8/1. Dumpster was delivered on 8/4. Job was then rescheduled for 8/12 and dumpster was removed, empty, on 8/6. On 8/12, when no one showed up, we discovered that Gandy had closed their doors. A blog on their website (now closed) provided some details as to what happened. All attempts to get our deposit back have been ignored. We were contacted with threats of liens by both the dumpster company and the building supplies distributors, neither of whom had been paid for their services by Gandy. We were able to resolve the issues with the two subcontractors and have filed complaints with both the States of Michigan (Gandy HQ) and Illinois.
